Half the time I wish the other car sounds were gone in GPL so I could hear my own engine properly! Stephen.

OK, I didn't try enough tracks. GP3 does have banking in some of the turns, just not on any turns of the first three tracks I tried! :) Brazil is the first track I've seen that has banking. Also, I finally got the force feedback working right. I had the "map Y forces to X axis" box checked in the Force RS setup menu, and that was screwing up the FF in GP3. The force feedback is pretty good, closer to GPL than F1 2000, but it could use a lot more damping. With the FF working correctly, much more feel for the handling of the car is provided. It was really like night and day for me. There are still some things about the physics that I don't like, but it's good enough with the FF to be fun. I wasn't sure that I'd buy GP3 earlier, but after driving it for the last couple of hours, I will buy it enthusiastically. I was hoping for more, considering that it's been four years in the making, but it's enough of an improvement over GP2 to be worthwhile. -- PD

see? The game really grows on you, it's amazing :) At first I also was a bit dissapointed with it.. but after racing it for 3 days now I start to like it more and more every lap... -- Sjon "Pat Dotson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

As soon as I got my joystick problems aired out I too found the FF was working. Now that all the bells and whistles are working (I don't know what other people were talking about with regard to no other car sounds, I hear them wizz by all the time) the game is really not that bad. Everyone says there are canned spins but I have to dissagree, I have been able to catch most of my spins and the ones that I can't seem to develope the way they should and each one is different. The tire squeel sound is something that needs to go though. I have found that the idle of the engine makes your car move and makes very slow corners hard to manage since you really want to coast through most of them. All in all this is a good game and I will go pick it up when it hits the states, by then I should be pretty good at it. Vintook "Pat Dotson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

if ya wanna coast, hold your downshift button, while moving in 1st gear, I believe it won't go into neutral, but the clutch will be engaged Martyn_D Vintook wrote:

If a car passes in the pits, does it really make a sound? And what's the sound of one caliper locking? There's a real danger of running off from shear terror of having a BAR drive behind you and think: "That sound, that's, that's, THAT'S A HONDA BEHIND ME! AAAARGH..."

Sorry I was in the pits and heard them go by but someone else stated that was just sounds they threw in there for effect, I stand corrected. How do you get hearing dead people out of that???? Vintook (I got it, just asking a dumb question for a laugh) "Stephen Ferguson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:397d7b38$[email hidden]...

Thanks, Pat for a sensible, understated and non-inflammatory comment on GP3; it is in obvious contrast to much of what has appeared in this NG recently on the subject, and I much appreciate it. ***OT*** I haven't seen many messages from you recently; everything fine over there? I still don't have FF back in GPL, nor will the converter work for me; I'll have to hire you to come over as an out-of-town consultant! Can you tell me anything about the LAN race in Indy I saw an oblique reference to on the NG several weeks ago? Best.
