Re: GP3 SPINS ARE CANNED AND I CAN PROVE IT!

Flame warClaim that GP3 has canned spins disputed

Danny claimed GP3's spins were canned because the car could not be held in a first-gear wheelspin. Others said wheelspin and slides could be caught in higher gears, and Jan Verschueren explained GP3 needs quick, harsh corrections rather than GPL-style balanced drifts. The thread descended into national insults involving Belgians and Australians.

Hey, Floor the throttle from standing in 1st gear in an F1 car and see how long you last facing in one direction. And don't go shouting that it doesn't happen in GPL cos they're different cars (higher, softer, 1/2 the power etc).
You've never seen Jensen Button do a "300 meter burn out at the goodwill speed festival" What you saw was Jensen Button do a 100 burn out at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I was there. Doug Danny <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:%YSe5.1809$[email hidden]...

hehehe...you guys are very funny... I agree with sjon that the original post is sorta ermmm....very one sided. But...danny dude does have a point. I've been driving for days now (ALL aids off including steeringhelp, for those who really believe everyone who has a negative thing to say about how it drives is actually a moron with all driving aids on..gg) And he is right...it is more forgiving in the rain and i finally have been able to do something which could be considered a controled back slide out of a corner in the wet... I think it's normal for the wet cause there's less traction and less friction between the road and tires..so everything is smoother and happens for gently. But pulling away like a mad man in the dry or wet , or a burnout, things shown at shows like what he saw J.button do, and at the start of a race is indeed impossible.. You loose the car...period... I can drive away full trottle after letting the clutch go and keep it straight for not more the a few meters...and that's with easing off the throttle... I would not dare to call it canned. But... my idea is that it's certaily *far* from dymanic and force based as in GPL... And for the lamers who go " there's one of them GPL people again"... is there something wrong with wanting/hoping for an F1 sim which achieves the same thing as GPL as far as it concerns physics...don't think there is. cheers, willem

Naaah... What I SHOULD have typed is: "Danny, you are Australian. So if your parents aren't Aboriginals, then your far ancestors must have been criminals dropped as far away as possible by the English. Contrary to most native Australians, this bad behaviour was most probably geneticly determined in your ancestors, causing a severe uncurable tendency towards bad-mouthing and unreasonable behaviour even in later generations. I therefore accuse you of confirming the totally false and dumb stereotype that Australians must be bad people because some of their ancestors were supposed to be." But it had to be "catchy", so I had to simplify and therefore introduced confusion. So to clear up: it was Danny who I was crushing (he's probably still weeping somewhere in a corner of the room) ;-) Now let's get back to -preferrably balanced- discussion of the latest sims. JoH, extremely thankful that some *nice* Australians helped save the ass of his nation.

All the GP3 supporters say the physics are good and you say the spins are not canned ok then. I say the physics are canned, not as bad as GP2 but very close. If you floor the throttle in first you HAVE to back off or you instantly spin out.You cannot catch the slide back and fight it with the wheel once it spins in first gear. ALL YOU CAN DO IS BACK OFF The game simply decides you have gone to far and spins you right out. And if you want to argue this point i issue you a challenge. I want you to try and do a standing start take off like they do in real life F1 cars. Where they wheel spin 1st 2nd and into 3rd gear, fighting with the wheel to control the car and keep it straight. Have fun trying cause you wont do it. As soon as you spin in first you are gone, you cannot fight the car with the wheel AT ALL...in the wet it gives you a bit more time but it still throws you off when it decides it wants too. I saw jenson button do a 300 meter burn out at the goodwill speed festival Try to even do a first gear burn out with out spinning out let alone 3rd gear all aids off of course. The model is too restrictive it wont even let you floor the throttle in the grass or gravel, you have to get back on the road then u can LOL Oh and try to run the game at 640 480,its looks EXACTLY like gp2. crammond didnt use any of the special features of modern 3d cards. No, you can kick the back out with the throttle and hold with the wheel... GP3's not that bad, just not as "talkative" as the other sims. Jan. =--- Simon Brown wrote... > It is true that you can't control a spin without lifting. > >
Hmmm... I think I see where the difference lies. In GPL you can sometimes hold a drift with a constant wheel and throttle input. In GP3 you need to adapt to several quick, fairly brutal steering corrections while you keep your foot in it. Which doesn't mean floored... enough to either spin up the rears or kick out the back, but not floored (would be very amazed if the real guys did except for power spinning). Guess I automatically switched to GP2 mode when I tried the game. Jan. =--- Simon Brown wrote... > Dunno, it didn't seem to work for me. Not just flooring it any throttle. If u cared to notice you cant FEATHER the throttle in gp3 As soon as it spins it first gear even at half throttle the revs flare up and u spin out U try spinning through first gear at any throttle. considering real f1 cars spin 1st 2nd 3rd and can keep it straight it should be easy huh? The gp3 cars are such dogs they dont even spin in 2nd gear in a straight line,in real life they are always batteling to put the power down,im flat out of all corners once i get about 40kph. It is true that you can't control a spin without lifting.
Simon Brown 25 Jul 2000 01:51 UTC#251256
Dunno, it didn't seem to work for me. I was trying flooring the throttle sat still in first gear and trying to catch the spin and keep the car straight. Despite being able to catch spins pretty good in GPL, I couldn't manage it once in GP3 unless I was prepared to lift off the throttle a little.

lol,i read it was hundreds or meters did you have a tape measure there did u? Im sure he could of gone on for 500 meters point is a real F1 car do massvie burnouts and wheel spin in almost all the gears I gp3 i cant get it to spin in second Sjon Stigter <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8lh1hs$njo$[email hidden]...

away. So are we talking about Danny here, or all Aussies ??? First you slag off ALL Aussies, then you retreat and just apply it to Danny, then you give me a hypothetical situation that means ABSOLOUTLY FUCK-ALL !! How about we get off each others backs in regards to where we're from, and talk about what we do, racing sims......

I suspect you need to learn *alot* more about Australia before you can make such sweeping claims. I don't suppose you've ever heard of the word, 'migration'? Cheers, Rod. - Australian whos ancestors weren't sent here for being criminals.

I was practising this down Hockenheims straights this evening in F12000 - I got a (100% throttle all the way!) series of a about 3 or 4 burnouts that stayed on the track if I held on to each gear for longer that is seemed I should. If I changed up and changed up..I ended up in 7th, wheels doing 210mph, car doing 100mph - and loosing it one direction or another into the wall... It's possible to hold reasonable burn-outs in F12000!

do u have toe adjustments in F1 2000? dunno wht no camber or toe adjustments in GP3, o course we'd also need tire temps then, which are also missing, along with tire pressure... Martyn_D Douglas Ellison wrote:
