Some also defended GP3 keeping GP2's menu system.

SPOT ON
I thinks it's bloody wonderful really playable the car feels so alive
it's twitchy and you get a real feeling of acceleration
As for the weather truly amazing, I was hotlapping around Silverstone
and it started raining on one side of the track and not the other
amazing bloody amazing. If it was a race I'd be thinking do I stop,
will it dry and is that a barrier I just hit.
It's fully met my expectations
My only gripe is I have a Saitek R4 wheel that has the padals as
buttons 5 and 6 GP3 seems to only recognise 4 hey ho....

Let's see one of those guys defend that "spot on" statement here. Then I'll
run one of their cars into the armco at 70mph and see if it survives without
a scratch. <g>

In the Dutch F1-race preview, they put people into a Hyper running F1-2000.
Tom Coronel, with Arrows F1-experience, went in, and commented "this is
just incredibly hard, its soo realistic! What a very very very good game,
incredibly fantastic" etc etc. Point is: they dont have a clue.

I do not want to comment the physics in GP3 either way. Just wanted to
point out that F12000 has been done in cooperation with Benetton. With
similar blessings for the physics accuracy. Whatever the actual truth
is, that kind of "spot on" slogans are for sale and worth crap as
information. Unless heard from the team guys first-person, I guess :-)
Besides, I can disagree on a LOT of things with certain F1 teams.

This game final or not runs smooth as silk on my system with everthing
maxing out, thats a pretty good start.
The game has been tested by members of the Arrows team who rate the physics
as "spot on " albeit being a bit generous with grip in wet weather
situations, So how many people can disagree with members of a F1 team ?,
please leave your names then explain how it is you know better than them

The graphics are not groundbreaking I would give them 7/10 ( but then some
would argue that the weather effects would add 1 more to that) they are
perfectly acceptable.
The A1, holy shit how good does it get, I don`t think much better in my
humble opinion.
Nice simple menu system. Really good loading times which I like a lot.
Hey I could go on all night, but since most people will have stopped reading
this as it hits the mark and probaly touches a nerve in some, I will round
off now.
When I started the game it took a while and some editing of the cards.txt
file to get it sweet, ( Oh and quite a while sorting my Wheel out aswell)
but then the fun began and yes I love the physics and A1 and Framerate the 3
things that make a sim playable so I am happy.
Well done Geoff, thanks for giving me the best F1 sim out to date.

Not I. But just to be clear....are you saying that, according to the
game testers from the Arrows team, that the car in GP3 has a bit more
grip than a real F1 car would have in wet weather?
I remember watching Senna from the in-car cam during a wet practice
session at Monoco, and the man scared the hell out of me. He truely
was a master in the rain.

Because DUH... There are no G forces in PC racing sims. As
such how in the hell can they say that it "feels right". I say "feel
this" :-)
Every F1 game released recently has had real F1 teams doing
similar things giving similar praise.

Did you ever play GP2??? I heard the menu system was identical.

Thanks for all the input regarding the "spot on " comment I made.
Would anyone like to comment on the other points I made in my post ,
positive or negative.
I think F1 2000 is a good attempt but unfortunately its badpoints outweigh
it`s good points in my humble opinion. I was one of the guys who posted that
I liked it when it first came out. My worry is, how are they going to make
it right without redoing a hell of a lot of it . Please, that product ( and
I own it myself and enjoy hotlapping on it, thats all it`s good for) was
nowhere near fit for release. Gp3 works and is value for money IMHO. With
regards to damage I have had a couple of whel losses so far, so there is
some there but without playing for afew fullraces etc.. I cannot futher
comment at the moment. This game must make some money so it will have to
appeal to more than just the hardcore. I like it super realistic but I also
enjoy playing, if I had a car which was as reliable as some of the F1 cars
in the real world I might only get 2 laps practice and out of the race on
first lap in a pile up maybe.
Hey Jan, maybe we will be able to edit the damage to make it more realistic
ourselves
who knows. Cut down on the caffeine :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

And you believe everything you read? Novalogic has real pilots test
their crap flight-sims too and they say their sims are as real as it
gets blah, blah, blah. Anyone with $0.02 of logic knows this is BS.

The GP2 menu was exactly the same as the F1GP menu as well, just
about.
Whats the big deal on menus??

The problem with real life experts is that the have no comparisation
as to what other games already have achieved and what a PC is
capable of.
It's been the same problem with lots of flight simulations who all
have one or two real life pilots taking a ride and saying "yeah,
that's pretty close" and so on. But as long as that pilot isn't a PC
gamer with some experience himself, such statements are not all
that valuable and relevant.
Blaze
I remember some years ago reading an article in Autosport in which John
Cleland and Tim Harvey reviewed the original TOCA 1. They remarked on how
realistically the cars handled and what a goob job Codemasters had done. I
bought the game on the strength of this.
Hehe. Turned out to be total arcade rubbish with steering that pointed the
car in the general direction of the turn.

to know " I know it sounds bizarre but to be an expert on
analogies eg. photography , hi-fi music reproduction , autos
simulators etc you actually need as much experience with the
analogy as the real thing , otherwise you are too easily
impressed. This is research FACT I'm afraid. For example -
modern computer generated effects in movies , they are
embarrassingly unrealistic at the moment and will look
hopelessly dated in a few years - show a computer generated
explosion to a special effects expert and they will be able to
criticise , show the same effect to an explosives expert with no
special effects knowledge and they will be " that's amazing ,
exactly like the real thing !"
Similarly musicians were amazed by CD sound when it came out -
"it's perfect !" , of course the hi-fi manufacturers knew it was
anything but perfect , whether or not they'd played a guitar in
their lives.
Same with GP car drivers.
It's not that they are trying to please - they really do think
it's realistic - for a computer game. It should be patently
obvious to all here that no simulator is anything like the real
thing in a number of important areas - G-forces for one , what's
really at issue is they get right what can be done - tyre grip ,
momentum and directional physics etc. I haven't played GP3 and I
hope it's anywhere near GPL for physics modelling - but I'll
settle for it being a good game.

It's the lack of certain things within the menu system that is the problem.
Things like tyre temperature measurements on the inner, centre and outer
portions of the tyre, camber adjustment and proper diff adjustment, not just
low, med and high.

The actual menu, if like GP2 was fine but is it really worth paying 30.00
for 3d graphics, wet races and a few cosmetic changes? I know my answer to
this one.

Because DUH... He may throw in other shit recycled from his
previous releases too. Like when you overload the processor
ocupancy to over 100%, you will drive slower in real time but
your laptimes will be far quicker. Basicly a cheat...
Or you might have shit graphics or only sound from your car
or a host of other things.
People thought F1 2000 was rushed??? I really have to wonder
how much work actually went into GP3. It seems like they just
worked on rain effects and ported GP2 to W98.
