Re: SCGT Recalled from EB and Babbages?? (!) ?

Was Sports Car GT recalled from stores?

Andrew Turner was told Sports Car GT had been recalled or discontinued. Dave Henrie explained that 'recalled' usually means a title has moved to budget packs, and others noted it was widely available in bargain bins. Henrie also recommended community add-ons such as the SP3.0 car pack to improve the game.

You could also try Best Buy - I've seen copies at my local store. Pretty sure it's also available in one of EA Sports' racing collections with 2 other titles - might be your best bet. Rick

I don't know why it would be recalled. But, you can get SCGT in a bundle pack here. $29.99. Price seems high for U.S. Can get for less than that in Canadian dollars even. http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/ultrace3pr.htm Or you can get the original version here. $29.99 http://www.dragon.ca/games/driving/sportscargt.htm Or you can get it here for $14.95. Must be EA Classic version because of low price. Maybe not though. Classic version is same as full version anyway. http://www.cdmag.com/cgi-bin/order.cbi_home?client=482&source=10678&page=chips_main.html&add=SPORCGT.IR -- Nos

don't worry, in the software business, 'recalled' almost never means what it does in the manufacturing world. Here the term recalled almost certainly means the full price package has been pulled from distribution and repackaged in groupware or discount paks. SCGT is an imperfect sim, but it can be made MUCH better. Here are the steps. A: apply the official 1.551 patch. B: get and use the Advanced Options Editor(every time you boot it) C: download the SP3.0 & SP3.1 D: Download the ALMS patch E: Download the Alldash patch F: Download the dozens if not hundreds of unique "home built" cars that are now available for SCGT E: Download AT LEAST the Silverstone converted track.(there are a few others) F: Hunt all over the net for missing sounds, files and other nick nacks that make SCGT the best durn RPG racing game around. dave henrie Andrew Turner wrote:

It's all over the place in the bargain bins here in Toronto....even places like Costco and Wal-mart. By the way, it's the best quality racing title in the bargain bin by far--and a lot better than many of the full-priced titles. Marc. I saw it at a Staples in Hamilton about a month ago for $15 Canadian. I didn't buy it then, and when I went back to get it less than a week later, they didn't have any more copies. Let me know if you find it cheap in the area. Marc

That's the RPG part of this. You have to be part Indiana Jones to find all the files needed. :> Try www.gtinsider.com first & littleracer.com between those two, you should have enough links to find most of the files. The biggest failing of SP3.0(aside from it's HUGE file size.) is that many of the added cars did not have sound files included. There "was" a file on gtinsider called scgtsoundcheck.zip. In that was a listing of many of the missing sounds and where they could be found. ALMOST all of the individual cars have the sounds needed. dave henrie
