Off-topic gossip about Jeremy Mayfield's new partner

An off-topic thread speculated about NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield appearing in victory lane with a new partner. Crude remarks about his former wife drew rebukes, and several posters said such gossip did not belong on a sim newsgroup.

I knew Jeremy from way back in his ARCA days. All I can say is I don't think his girlfriend/wife ever could handle the hectic schedule. She was nice and all but may have felt like Jer was too involved in his racing and not involved enough with her...just my opinion. He's a really nice and genuine guy, so I don't think he deserves the 'prick' title he's been given here. I also don't think that he did it just because of peer pressure in the garage area. As for his new love interest, I've never met her, but there are usually a lot of 'groupie trophy girls' (from sponsors, crew's family, etc...) floating about that you see week in and week out,and it wouldn't surprise me if that is how they met. Again, just my opinion, Mike EldredP wrote:

How do you know that the reason you suggest was the reason he and his first wife departed company? It may have had nothing at all to do with his success at all. Many times cars and women don't mix! Maybe, he found a woman who enjoys life on the road and always being in the public eye! Some women are high maintenance units and don't like to play second fiddle to cars or PC's. What you guys are missing is one simple fact. As people who are fans, and who have nothing to do with the personal lives of celebrities (even small time celebs like Jeremy Mayfield). We are in an excellent position to pass judgment on him for his actions. Who better than us to condone him for getting a "trophy wife." I feel NASCAR should strip him and all those like him of all points, it tarnishes the wholesome family reputation of NASCAR, one which has been built since the founding NASCAR fathers gave up lucrative entrepreneurial enterprises to race cars on the weekend. I say stone him. Thoughtfully, Brian A+,N+,MCP+I,MCSE,MCT and Mocker at heart btgoss on Gamespy and Kali "Brett C. Bruce you are right. But seeing as how my humour has been lost on most who read my post I think it makes little difference. Ya know, when I was milling around the garage area at Phoenix Int'l Raceway last year, I saw him walk through the gates holding hands with this little dark-haired fox with quite a caboose, which surprised me, knowing that his wife (Christina?) was a chunky blonde. I never read one article about his marital situation, either. Then again, if we want soap operas, watch the networks on weekday mornings.
