Hi,
First sorry for the bad english.
There is a lot of talk about the fack that Sierra/Papy didn't release
the N3 Truck expansion in store. They say it's because they don't
expect to sale a lot of them and other reasons.
Now, why not say to Sierra/Papy that we will not buy N4 if the Trucks
are not included in the initial release. This way they will not
bullshit us about poor sale of the expansion. If they can sell
N3/NL/N3Trucks for 50$ they sure can sell the N4/Truck as an initial
release. This way they won't have to try to sale an N4Trucks via the
Web and everyone will be happy.
We could proceed via a petition (maybe one of the big Web site, like
The Pits, would like to collect it). Or each individual could send an
email to Papy/Sierra.
What do you think?

It's not that Sierra doesn't want the truck addon in retail stores, it's
that the retail stores don't want it. The retail stores have to buy the
copies from Sierra too and if they think it isn't going to sell then
they wont stock them.
Call you local Software Distributor to stock the trucks addon and show
them there is a demand for it.

Now suddenly the trucks are back again as an add-on pack or by
buying the acceleration pack.
This just seems to me like Papyrus/Sierra trying to make as much
money as possible out of the public.
I have NR99, I won't buy N3 because apart from better graphics I
don't believe it will offer me anything better than NR99. I
might buy the Acceleration pack if it is a reasonable price for
the fact that it has something more (Nascar Legends) then NR99
and a third party (Dave Noonan) has made it possible to utilise
the N3/NL tracks for use in GPL.
If I like the look of reports I see about Nascar 4 I might
consider getting it, I will wait and see though. I won't to be
sure I am not going to be wasting my money first.

It's not even available to retailers to decide wheter or not they want to
stock it or not.
Don't believe anything Sierra says.

Boycotting implies giving up something entirely. No way the whole sim
community is going to do that.
That would be about as good an idea as this stupid "gas out" thingy.
On the other hand it shouldn't be much of a big deal for folks to give up on
this current Truck Expansion deal. Talk about a NON-product. I mean good
grief people. Look at what you actually get that they want you to spend
20-50 bucks for. 6 measley tracks and a new vehicle shape. WOW
I already have most all those tracks anyway. All I need is for them to make
it easy for folks to use them online instead of continuing to spit in their
customers faces every chance they get.

don't buy it. I am not buying the Trucks for N3. I would like to have it
but, I don't feel it is worth the money. So I will pass it up. You have the
option also.

Here's my prediction. N4 will come out this year, with a NASCAR Legends
2 (the 80') announced the month after. In March 2001, you will be able
to get the Odyssey pack (2001) with N4, NL2 and the trucks expansion (2
new tracks: Taladega night and Chicago).

That's only PARTIALLY true. I assure you: Best Buy, Wall-Mart, Fry's,
CompUSA and others DO have a voice with Sierra. Small guys like me DON'T.
So if Ingram Micro (the world's largest distributor) doesn't carry it
(because Sierra doesn't offer it and Ingram sure as HELL doesn't know to ASK
for it!) _I_ can't carry it. Whether I'd want to or NOT. Personally I
don't know of a SINGLE soul who bought the Craftsman Truck full version.
But I've already ordered my expansion pack.
Again, partially true. I take what they say with a grain of salt and I
read EVERYthing I can find related to their products when I'm interested and
them mix ALL the "statements" together to get what has in the past been a
pretty accurate picture of what's going on. Same with EA. It would be
TOTALLY true for MS and dozens of other big companies.
