Guys, my InoculateIT virus checker reports that a file in the Snetterton track (bill_5.mip) is infected with the PeaceKeeper virus. Now, I'm not saying it's so, and I don't even know what PeaceKeeper virus is or does, but I just thought you'd like to know. I got the track from the GPLEA site, and Bill_5.mip is in the snett_rest zip. I just scanned all the files with McAfee and found no problems. Thanks for attempting to clear this up, Ed. Could you point me in the direction of where you read up about peacekeeper? I tried, but found nothing. -- Colin Harris ColinHarris in N3/NL Proud co-owner - CLONE N.Legends league http://members.chello.se/clone/index.htm ICQ 25485061 Ed Solheim <ed_solheim[SPAM-GUARD]@c2i.net> wrote in message news:GFuC4.277$%[email hidden]... > Colin, > > We've had a few people reort a virus in that file... but we've checked it > with multiple virus scanners and found nothing. > It seems to me that everone that reported a virus in that file all use the > same Virus-scanner, whilch probably means theres a bug in the scanner > definition files and NOT a virus in the mip-file. > > I did a check on that PeaceKeeper virus and from what I can tell it can only > infect executable files (*.exe - *.com), whilch ofcourse a mip isn't. > > -- > All the best, > Ed Solheim > The GPLEA >

Colin, We've had a few people reort a virus in that file... but we've checked it with multiple virus scanners and found nothing. It seems to me that everone that reported a virus in that file all use the same Virus-scanner, whilch probably means theres a bug in the scanner definition files and NOT a virus in the mip-file. I did a check on that PeaceKeeper virus and from what I can tell it can only infect executable files (*.exe - *.com), whilch ofcourse a mip isn't. -- All the best, Ed Solheim The GPLEA Colin Harris wrote: > Guys, my InoculateIT virus checker reports that a file in the Snetterton > track (bill_5.mip) is infected with the PeaceKeeper virus. Norton AntiVirus detects no virus either and according to their info the Peacekeeper 3800 and Peacekeeper 3830 only infect .exe and .com files.
