I'm not into overclocking, and my 3000 does make a difference. Probably about 4-5 fps. I haven't done ANY tweaking on the 3000. YMMV... True. But I can run my 3000 at 200, which is pretty fast. While not answering your question the V4 and V5 should be out soon, and they should both knock spots off the V3 in any form. By the way, I have a V32000, overclocked to 166mhz and I can't see the point of the extra money for the 3000, it works fine with GPL etc. Steve bjrn wrote in message <88n200$u9s$[email hidden]>...

My V3 2000 card is working great here, and its currently clocked at 175 (the V3 3000 runs at 166, and the V3 3500 runs at 183MHz). I've got extra cooling in the case (two pc case fans) pointed at the V3 card, so no probs with overheating here. Its been running ok at 175 for about 2 weeks now. 8-) *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

I run my 3000 at 190mhz comfortably. It will run as high as 200 but some games have tearing at that setting. A lot of people also overclock the 2000. So here's the question only you can answer - is the extra speed worth $20 to you? That's the difference in the price of the cards. The new Voodoos, like the 5500 should be great, better in every way, but with an estimated price of around $300 I think. Slot

I run my V3 3000 at 178mhz. Anything more my system get's up tight. I also have a heat extracting fan mounted in the slot next to the card and have not had over heating problems. I do think the V5/6 are worth waiting for. Both will offer full screen anti-aliasing via hardware with little hit on performance. The V4 is a fast chip, but without the hardware effects of the V5/6. According to 3Dfx, all three chips V4/5/6 will be out within a few days/weeks of each other. But you never know. -Andrew "RS" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:vfbC4.20450$[email hidden]...

I run my V3 3000 at 183 Mhz (3500's clock speed) without any extra cooling. No problems whatsoever. BTW I think the new Nvidia chip is far more impressive, especially since we can expect more games to use T&L. I've always been a big 3DFX support but I'm not so sure anymore. The V4/5/6 are due in April and May which is why I'm looking forward to them. Also, don't want to give up GPL just yet.
