On the main screen in NFS Shift there is no exit menu item. I had to
use task manager to shut it down. The demo also installs Nvida PhysX
Properties applet when I already have Aegia PhysX installed and have
an ATI card. WTF is wrong with EA?

The menu is scrolled, press the down arrow and you'll see quit. The
same menu system is used throughout the game, so you'll need to use
down arrow to see all menu options, such as quitting a race.

OK, thanks. I quit the race just by pressing pause and I see the
option to quit the race. I doubt I will buy the game though anyway as
I already wasted moeny on Grid and don't want to make the same mistake
again. Pysics do feel better than Grid burt the rest of the game is
similar.

I guess Richard Burns Rally would fit that category well then, too
(while being anything but... ;-)

Good point. Initially I was annoyed by the menu system in RBR. But I soon realised
it was worth the effort.
Whether Shift is on the same level as RBR and worth the effort or not, I continue
to have a great time with this game/sim hybrid. And there's some promising work
being done to try and get the best out of this software.
There's some serious sim code buried in there, honest! :-)
