Dear All, I have exchanged mail with Papyrus design group about an Amiga version of Indycar racing. For those of you who don't know, they were the creators of the excellent Indy 500 simulation. The reason that they have not released a version for the Amiga is that they are concerned about a: The market and b: The demand for the game. I have written back and said that I would start a kind of petition, where all those who would like to see an Amiga version of the game could post and say so. Hopefully this will encouage them to do an Amiga version of the game. I would hope that if enough people express and interest then they will produce one, after all they saw fit to do a the Indy 500 game for the Amiga. I have pointed out to them that there has never been a better time to do the game, what with the new Amiga's (1200 and 4000) and the CD32, which now accounts for over 40% of all CD-ROM sales, which is more than any other format including PC. So, post here and express your wish for an Amiga version of INDYCAR RACING, NOW!!!! :) This will be cross posted to comp.sys.amiga.games. Thanks for all the support that I hope I will get!! :) Don't delay, post TODAY!! Yep, I've been all for an Amiga version since they were still working on the PC version. Back then, John Wheeler said they "fully expect an Amiga version to follow in short order." Well, it hasn't. If they made it only for AGA Amigas, I'd probably buy an AGA Amiga. But there's no real need for fancy schmancy memory-eating, framerate-slowing graphics. Nice fast graphics like I500 had is just fine. Look at Fighter Duel Pro 2. No terrain or any of that nonsense -- just fast, high-resolution air combat with the most realistic flight model there is for any home flight simulation. The main problem Papyrus would face is that, to make ICR excellent as opposed to really good, they'd probably require a minimum of 2MB or more, and maybe 1MB of chip, and perhaps a faster processor. This would be a first in the Amiga market. No one has been willing to make that move, which is why Amiga games no longer are superior to those on PCs. We can't keep insisting that Amiga software be compatible with a stock Amiga 1000 (which I happen to use, alas), which is nearing 10 years of age. --

Dear All, In response to one of the followup posts and a mail message that I have receieved, I think it would be best for people to do the following to support the Petition for an Amiga version of Indycar Racing: 1: Very important!! Post a one liner here so that the petition keeps in people minds. That way, it will come up in the unread threads and people will keep on seeing it, and people who missed it will maybe post. 2: Mail me expressing your support and I will pass them on to Papyrus at regular intervals, say once a week. Hopefully we can get a version of the game for our machine, I sorely hope so considering the quality of Indy 500 - which I booted up yet again last night!!! (Runs 50 fps or VERY close on my machine! :) Actually, I am surprised by what someone said, in that they had read that a version was on it's way. Keep the postings and mail coming, I now have quite a few mail messages in my box!!! Well done!! KEEP THEM COMING!!! PLEASE!!!! We may well get what we want if you do.
