1. Can we have a little Racing with our Commercials please? I mean as
it is, we might was well rename all the races to the "NBC Commercials
500" or something...
2. How about a little HDTV love? Other sports are in HDTV, why not
broadcast NASCAR in HDTV? I just LOVE sitting in front of $10,000 worth
of Home Theatre so I can watch a 35" square area of raster on a 50" 16:9
TV. NOT!
3. Hire new commentators. You've even managed to morph Benny Parsons
into a ranter who has forgotten to talk about RACING!
4. Watch Fox next season to see how to do it right.
If the above is too difficult, PLEASE let your contract expire.

Complaints about NBC's NASCAR broadcasts
Larry blamed NBC's low NASCAR ratings on excessive commercials, poor commentary and the lack of HDTV broadcasts. Others compared it with UK ad limits and in-car coverage during breaks, recommended TiVo, blamed football season, and traded political jokes and jabs about NASCAR's audience.

Nascar racing in itself is one big commercial. The sport is what it is,

2. I can't believe you wasted $10,000 on an HDTV.
3. When you're watching a sport designed to appeal to a redneck mass
audience, you have to expect an uneducated commentator. If he/she dared talk
about something technical, then they'd run the risk of confusing 75% of
their viewing population. It isn't about technology or even racing, it is
about watching cars crash and flip over.
4. Ah yes, Fox Sports. The innovators of the NHL glowing puck... for people
that are too stupid to be able to follow and be entertained by a regular
hockey game.

Just like NASCAR ain't what it used to be so are the broadcasts.
It's all about the money and ratings. When you have exclusive rights, like
Fox and NBC have this is what you get. Exactly what THEY want you to get,
not what you want.

Umm, it's no longer design to appeal to rednecks, and THAT's why they
now have stupid commentators - to appeal to the mass of barely educated
morons running around today. I'm surprised they haven't tried a txt'ing
announcement deal where everyone that pays a ridiculously high amount
can see the race announcing on their cel phones.

Nascar announcers do ?

You got that right. The best thing I've found is TiVo. I've wanted
it for long time and finally got it about a month ago. Now I can't
imagine watching tv without it lol.. This is the best thing for the
idiot box since they put color in it. If you've ever considered one,
do it - I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. You still have to
fast forward through the commercials, but those are here to stay in
one form or another until it goes PPV.

I'm in the minority, but I don't have major problems with most of the
broadcast or the people who do it. I like all of the booth guys from
both networks. I think the FOX broadcast is better, but I enjoy the
NBC crew too.
I don't know. What's wrong with a good Bush joke?

Hey gents.
Larry, I don't watch NASCAR too much anymore, but I could almost swear I get
most of the race in 16:9 1080i HD. In-car camera shots and some others
revert to 4:3, but the race is 16:9. Maybe I can check again tomorrow.

That's kinda my point.
If it's being transmitted in HD, why isn't NBC broadcasting it in HD?
My local NBC channel and cable company. definitely broadcasts HD so
they have the capability.
It's sad when you can watch a horrible 30 min sitcom in HD, but a major
sporting event comes through in SD 4:3.

the dumbest POS I've ever used in my life. I won't bore you with the
details, but my old habits of starting the recording then watching from
the beginning after it's been recording for about an hour or so isn't
feasible with thia pile of junk.
I left DirecTV and my DirecTivo (extremely hesitently) after being with
them from the very beginning solely because of the HD/DVR situation with
DirecTv. As soon as the boxes are down to sub-trump pricing levels I'm
going back.

He's not blind, but regular TV only has so much resolution and "framerate".
Players are faster, and he slowed way down. The bigger TV didnt help much,
and im not popping for a 65" HDTV for his hockey habit. My apologies to you

I
must have been thinking of TNT or something. I had to change to 480p and
zoom mode to fill the screen, and it's just not the same as 1080i. Lucky for
me, I'm in New England so I had plenty to watch with the Red Sox and
Patriots.
NASCAR if furiously trying to compete with the NFL for Fall ratings. You'd
think they'd put a little pressure on NBC to broadcast HD in 16:9. Would you
laugh too hard if I said NASCAR must know what they're doing?
