Am I the only one, or has anyone else noticed that some of the cars in NFS
really should not be there; the RX-7 and Supra.
Granted, they are high performance cars, but are not in the same league as the
Diablo, 911 or Viper. Perhaps a better choice would have been to have had a
Lotus Esprit S4, Aston Martin DB7, McLaren F1, (which is perhaps a bit too
quick!), Bugatti ED110, or perhaps a classic, such as a Cobra or Ferrari
308GTB.
Come to think of it, a set of classic sports cars as an add on pack would be
pretty cool...
What does everyone else think?

Yeah, I remember that was the best thing about Test Drive 2: The
Duel for my old Amiga 1000. I think I bought all the expansion disks,
and one of them was a "Muscle Cars" pack. It had an old Shelby
Mustang and an old Corvette and some others. These were kind of slow
though, so maybe cars like Ferrari's and that Cobra would be a good
idea. I hope they do as much with NFS as Accolade did with TD2!!

in the game) is far superior to the 911. I think it is probably the
best all-around car. I've spent a lot of time with the Ferrari and
the Supra, and I think the Supra is better for Vertigo and probably
Alpine. The Ferrari is the best at Rusty Springs.

I must disagree with the Supra. If the real thing's anything like the
simulated Supra, then I'm buying one! I've been a great fan of the Celica
GT-4 (what with Toyota Team Europe's rallying success for so long), and
was actually hoping that the Supra would turn into that for the NFS
Rally Race. Oh well... Many of my lap and total time records have been
set on Supras (Vertigo Ridge at 9:55.5) or on the skid-loving Viper (Try
shifting to low gears on tight turns in Alpine stage 3)
I have won some races with the RX-7 and Acura, but those were
really unpleasant and left me with a bad, unsatisfied feeling.
I think that it would be great, though unlikely. Here's what I believe
should be on the classic sports car list.
Shelby Cobra (of course)
Chevrolet Grand Sport (I like Sting Rays)
Ford GT40 (210mph top speed during the 60s! Amazing wheelspin!)
Mercedes-Benz 300SLR (Maybe a Mille Miglia stage course as well)
Jaguar D-Type (The most beautiful thing in British Racing Green)
Lotus Super 7 (2nd most beautiful thing in British Green and Yellow)

think you'll find that most cars have their place in the
game. For instance, try the Ferrari or Diablo on Vertigo
Ridge, then try it with the Supra. Perhaps I'm wrong, but
I'm pretty sure you can consistently make better times with
the Supra.

Many people including myself could not agree more, there are only 2 cars (Ferrari & Diablo) that give good times
which means you never use the others apart from mucking around, where the hell do they get designers these days,
tut,tut,tut,tut hmmmmmmmm.

Sorry if I offended you, but I saw one in a parking lot a few months ago and those
headlights just give me the creeps.
Martin
I doubt that the best times at Vertigo are produced with either
Ferrari or the Diablo. My best (for a 6-lap time trial) with
the Ferrari is at least 15 seconds slower than my best with
the Supra ( 9:54.6 )

Like you said, personal preference. I find the Avanti to be one of the most
beautiful cars ever made. The old Studebakers that is. The ones from the 70s
I don't like that much. They do look bad in most cases.
Bob
Sure the Supra has got good handling, but there are cars in the world with looks that
that kill, and i sure would'nt mind taking some of those for a test drive, (Macralen
F1, TVR ect)
Chris.
If the TR is the best at Rusty, how come the Viper can consistantly whip
it???
I've been able to pull the time down to around 5:14 with only the Viper.
The TR isn't torquey enough.....IMHO.....

The cars all require different approaches to do well. The Viper is a
great
car, but if you work at it, I think you'll find you can do better with
the Ferrari or the Lambo. Experiment with different gears into the
curves
and different braking strategies.

That's not a very fast time, actually. I've gotten 4:56.8
and Lephturn has gotten 4:54.0 or thereabouts, the latter in the TR...
I'm pretty positive the Viper can't come close.
