This is how I made the steering and the pedals. If any problems let me know Only drawings, no text file (I'm working on it). If you have Autocad ver 13, view the *.dwg file to get the ability to change angles, zoom, etc. Have fun Siggi
Well, this is how I made the steering- and the pedal-system(check out the drawings posted under "cheap steering-system" and "cheap pedal-system". My problem is that when I made this I used the cable from an old joystick, and saw where the wireing should be connected, so that I don't know the precice pin# to this systems cable(I have only named them A,B,C,etc). It would be most helpfull if anyone could give me a clue here. The system it self is made out of wooden planks and a wooden broomstick, except the steering wheel (two tubes made of strong plastic, electrical tubes). And the plates that the pot.'s are connected to on the pedal-system (flexible metal plates, they need to move a little with the pot. when the axel rotates). The steering-systems rotationdegree must be restricted (or else you might end up rotating the wheel about 360 degrees). You can do this by drilling a hole in the steering axel, the hole must be located in the first chamber of the steering-box(and you can use this as a center for the pot.) and put a long mec.***thru and tighten it. Then you either drill two new holes (one on each side of the steering axel) through the steering-box's first chamber and insert two mec. screw's, or just two spikes, which then is supposed to stop the wheel from turning 360 degrees. The mec.***which is conected to the axel will be restriced by thes two srews or spikes that are connected to the first chamber of the steering-box. To make the steering wheel self centered I used two small metal spring-feathers which was connected to the steering axel and the side of the second chamber by adjustable hooks. I drilled holes in the plastic tube in which I mounted the impuls buttons. I have only two buttons now, but thinking on adding two more which I can use in conjunction with "GPbutton". The steering wheel is conected to the axel by a special***which has a wooden***on one side and a mec.***on the other. Use the wooden screw-end on the axel, but remember to drill a small hole in the center of the axel or you'll crack the axel when you try to tighten the***to the axel. List of components: Steering wheel: 1 pot. 100k Ohm 2-4 impuls buttons Pedals: 2 pot. 100k Ohm 2 res. 300k Ohm If you have Autocad ver 13, view the *.dwg file to get the ability to change angles, zoom, etc. If you have any problems send me a mail Have fun Sigbj?rn
