You burnt somethin' into my screen !
Hey , I read it too and I think that no Pentium 166 could handle the
SVGA graphics . Many other mags like PC Games have the same opinion !

Yap. I guess the HW requirements are the main reason for the delay.
Theyjust had to wait until the P120 came into the low end /private
customer area.
No, only the quicktime movie.

Hi All,
Recently, there have been some questions (and rumors) regarding what type
and speed computer will be required to run Grand Prix II.
After discussing this issue with the test team in the UK, here are the
facts...
The VGA version should run reasonably well on a 486DX4/100. If you've got
a 120 pentium, you'll be able to get a good frame rate in SVGA, with full
textures and full mirror detail.
Also the game is fully customizable, so if there is a performance hit you
can turn off the textures on, say, verges, the sky, curbs or whatever. You
can also play the game at three detail levels.
So what does this mean? To get the very best out of the game, yes, you
will
need a powerful machine (which "future-proofs" the product, bearing in
mind that we would like to add to, not change or upgrade, this game engine
for the next 2-3 years). However, anyone with a DX4 upwards will have a
good game and get the full benefit of the graphics engine. We currently do
not regard this as an issue.

Hi Brian
I am about to replace my P60 with P166. Would you suggest me to wait a bit for
a even higher performance CPU in order to deliver the best possible result in
the GP2, or would you suggest me that P166 is good enough for GP2? I am
talking about FULL details and with the ADD-ONs that you mentioned above.
Regards
Chris
Looking forward to the GP2
As much as I want to believe this, excuse me. Take the 4/100 for VGA at
320x200.
A SVA game at 640x480 is nearly 5 times as demanding graphically
*alone*, and I can't believe a P120 is that much faster than a 4/100.
Anyone?

Well, actually, due to a number of features that the pentium posesses, a
pentium120 IS actually _much_ faster than a 486/100. In fact, a
pentium75 is faster than a 486/120 in many applications and games where
code is optimized for pentiums (an increasing number nowadays). And this
is on an equal test (16mb ram/diamond stealth 64 w/ 2mb vram).
"people who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it."
