Ed:Teleport Problem at Pocono

4 posts by 4 people · 09 Jun 1996 - 20 Jun 1996

I have the teleport problem everytime I race at Pocono. My screen crashes and get all kinds of code on the screen and the sound hangs up also. I finally had to delete Pocono off my schedule to be able to race with no problems. Any ideas. -- http://user.mc.net/n9ldx McHenry Com Service Provider http://www.mc.net #2 is #1!

Since Nascar1.21 is running under a different engine than Hawaii, any code geniuses able to write a converter to change the NAS 1.21 car setups to the Hawaii spec's without losing the intergrity of each setup. I have found great setups for NAS, but when running Hawaii they are just okay. Seems that with a little tinkering someone would be able to write one. (I'll admit I know nothing about writting code). I just think the majority of people would feel more comfortable driving the same setup in each sim, with the same preformance and handling. Just a thought

I don't think it's that simple. The way I understand it, the bug that was fixed in the Hawaii code (MULTI) caused the weight to move around on the car. In NASCAR, this caused your setups to start out loose and then gradually tighten up over time. People took different approaches to fixing this problem, some added tons of stagger and wedge, others just suffered through the loose condition and waited for the car to come in. I think it would be difficult to write a program to "convert" setups because of all the different "fixes" that people attempted. It's really not that difficult to tweak your setups for MULTI. Generally, your setups are going to be too tight, so start by taking all the wedge out. If that doesn't loosen the car up enough, move a little weight towards the rear. I don't know if it's just experience or the bug fix, but I'm much better at dialing in setups for MULTI than I ever was for NASCAR. I know with MULTI that once I get the tires heated up, the car is going to behave pretty much the same way until the tires start to go away. I never felt that way about NASCAR. Have you tried re-installing Pocono? If it was crashing the system, it sounds like some of the files were corrupted. Ed Martin Producer, Series Director NASCAR Racing League Papyrus / Sierra On-Line, Inc.
