Survey of favourite Grand Prix 2 circuits

Players named their favourite GP2 tracks. Spa, with Eau Rouge, was the most popular choice, followed by Monza, Montreal, Imola, Suzuka and Estoril, while Portugal's final chicane and Aida were often disliked. Some posters joked about Damon Hill's championship fight.

>Just curious, which track in GP2 do you most enjoy driving? Spa. When Gp 1first came out and I had to pick my first track to get good on, I really liked that first downhill. So it became my favorite/best track and it continues iin 2.

he he, could be for that reason, but it's only because it's the track where you can achieve the top speed! (BTW, i'd like to see Jacques winning the F1 Champ. , and also Jean finishing third, but that's another story ;) cu, Laurent
: >Just curious, which track in GP2 do you most enjoy driving? -- I find the Hungororing to be the most challenging and enjoyable. The worst has to be Hockenheim. I find the twisty circuits more interesting than the high speed ones. Now if I could only get my hands on a steering wheel....
| Just curious, which track in GP2 do you most enjoy driving? Spa Francorchamps by far... La Source to Eau Rouge... wow... I like Monaco for its sights; Interlagos for the two tricky hairpins. I dislike Aida and Barcelona (experience it pretty tough to get into a nice rhythm there) --[ Edwin ]-- -- Dept. of Computer Science, Utrecht University, The Netherlands [WHOIS: ehk3] -------------------- http://www.cs.ruu.nl/people/edwin/ -----------------------

> > Just curious, which track in GP2 do you most enjoy driving? [Snip] > Japan has got be my favorite. [Snip] Spa or Estoril for me, love the speed around the bends and that hell chichane followed by the second (third if you're quick) gear climbing right hander. Japan is good fun tho' Like the corner at the end of the main straight when you're in a pack and going fast enough to break the car into a million pieces if you don't brake enuff for the guy leading into the corner. Eh ! Wheres the thrill driving through Eau Rouge? At the old GP1 I was pressed down in my seat ! Driving with GP2 let's me miss this feeling! Also climbing up to the *** in Monaco. With GP1 I can recognise every pothole, in GP2 there's nothing! But maybe I only have to change my bumpers ;-)) -- Is there any live outside computer ? >>Just curious, which track in GP2 do you most enjoy driving? >> Mark Imola(1994), for it's fast turns and tight corners allows for all types of overtaking. It's easy to get a good rythmn going. My least favourite is Portugal. It's nice until that crappy little chicane at the end of the track. I almost always lose it at the end. Hungary and Aida also suck IMO but Portugal get the cake for that god-awful turn. Mike M P.S. I hope in the update for the 1996 tracks, they allow us to keep the old ones. Many of the tracks have been butchered since 1994 including some of my favorites.
So far for me the hands down winner has to be Spa Belgium. Heading downhill into to Eau-Rouge seeing the car you are chasing already heading up the other side, then trying to get the corner right holding the throttle down to the last moment.... I finally understand why the drivers really love that corner. Cheers. --John -- ------------------- John (Joao) Silva http://weber.u.washington.edu/~jsilva Seattle, Washington USA.
Let me see, I keep changing my mind about this. I know I detest adelaide and estoril, my times there are awful. I can't decide between Imola, Monza or Spa. So I'll say all 3! Chris Fisher

my favoutite is Hockenheim - probably the easiest circuit to drive on? lots of good long straights to pull the guts of your engine out. hardest must be monaco. anybody know why the tunnel was programmed in such a way? also why no speech - i.e. 2 way radio? North East England

I guess Monza for a nice relaxing drive in the country, and Spa for a real challenge - love trying to straightline the bustop and catching the slide on the way out, and of course trying to do Eau Rouge flat (haven't succeded yet :-( Alan

I like driving Spa, too. I finally managed to make a setup that allows for a full-throttle sweep through Eau Rouge on a fresh set of tires (with rear wing at minimum, but also traction help, though.) All I can say is WOOAAHHH! :) After this year's Belgian Grand Prix, Niki Lauda was interviewed on (the otherwise despicable) RTL TV. This is what he said about Eau Rouge (translation from memory): "Drivers in slow cars usually have no problem taking it at full speed, because their cars simply lack power. With a competitive car, it's quite different. ... When I was racing at Spa, I always told myself in La Source: "This time, you're going through Eau Rouge full-throttle!", but usually, I lifted my foot a bit from the pedal when I actually arrived there. ... This curve is scary, and if you dared once to take it full speed, it doesn't mean you will have less respect for it on the next lap." Well, I knew *exactly* what he's talking about, and that's meant as a big compliment to GP2. -- "per aspera ad absurdum"

That little chicane is a complete nightmare to get through. What did they do, put an ice rink there or something? Regards, James.

Right! I agree here. It's much easier to pick a most hated track than a favourite one :-) I like Jerez very much, personally.
