I hope Microprose and Geoff Crammond send these programers and hackers some type of compensation for their time and work to actually complete Microprose's half-ass sim. It is a prime example of INCOMPLETE when non-employee programers half to create utilities and streamline other bug problems for another software companies product. This "incompetence" goes to show that GP3 will only be a "completed" GP2!! (maybe) -DG
I have P.K. Arnall's brilliant CarSet 4.0, Slobodan Blanusa's outstanding GP2 Editor, and loads of other bits that talented programmers and enthusiasts have made for GP2. There is just one more thing I would like, and I hope that one of the many programmers out there might be able to do it. I think it would be great if, when you scale down a race from 100% to say 25%, that the rate of fuel use and tyre wear increases proportionately. What this would achieve would be to let you drive races of less than 2 hours duration (hey, I have to study as well as play GP2) and still get the pit stops and strategy coming into play. As it stands at the moment, no-one pits for fuel or tyres at 25% race length, and only a handful make one stop at 50%. Ignorant of programming matters as I am, I would guess that it wouldn't take much to change. Surely all that needs to be done is to tweak the tyre wear and fuel use variables (ooh, getting technical now <g>), and maybe impose an upper limit on how much fuel the car can hold. Then, it would be possible to hold a shorter race and still get the experience of pitting in with other drivers having to do so as well. Just a thought. |----| | | | | | \________ |----| 5 4 3 2 1 / Veterinary Student | |-----------/ http://www.paulfinn.demon.co.uk
