I know software is going to have bugs but the more I play nascar2 the more pathetic it gets. My biggest beef of all is the fact that I have random breakdowns turned off and still " something lets loose in the motor". It has happened to me three races in a row tonight and NO! its not from using a short 4th gear. During caution laps after a wreck the spotter goes on and on meaningless with GO LOW GO HIGH. Usually one and then the other like he can't make up his mind. And in the main race menu I have had as many lock ups as I have races. Judging from how good nascar1 was ; I imagine this rush for release before Christmas came from the infamous MONEY HUNGRY sierra. Even with that considered ; how can you release such a pathetic piece of software like this after the high praise you recieved from nascar1? Not to mention that about half of the features we heard about for months were left out of the game. I think you need to fix your program before you start consentrating so much on the NRO. Which reminds me ; Are you even working on a patch for N2 yet? Seems like the patch should have been released the day after the game hit the shelves :) And for the ones in here that get SO MAD when someone expresses there frustration with all the n2 bugs ; can you really say you have'nt had the same problem? Unless you have'nt played it I doubt you can. It seems like your so affraid of upsetting one of these papyrus guys that you can't stand for others to speak their mind. Do you think they care? They already have your money. Yes it sounds sarcastic but anyone who bought N2 and has to live with this bug filled game has a right to be angry. Angry CONSUMER

Well you did ask, so here are a few of my experiences. First, let me say I've only run N2 several times, and haven't "lived" on it like some. (I am still busy running Multi for Hawaii races.) I have run 6 or so races on Kali, some practice with 2 player modem, and some practice by myself. Some of the Kali races had AI, some didn't. 1) Breakdowns - none. 2) Lockups - none from menus, a couple with connect problems on Kali 3) Spotter yelling wierd things - haven't seen it Patch, is being worked per Papy. Did you not see that post?? Just a point here that many of the complaints seem to vary greatly from person to person (machine to machine) and YOUR problems may not be present for some other configurations. I'm not saying there aren't issues that need a patch, it just seems that the expectation levels for N2 have gone off the scale! And everyone seems to want to compare the final patched version of N1 with the non-patched N2. Will these be issues after the first or second patch? Hope not, but we will see. (Why does rec.autos.simulators.whiners come to mind?? We could cut the traffic here in half or more!)

What?!? N2 has bugs in it?!? Oh no!! (being sarcastic) Jeez, every software will have bugs in it, no matter who makes it. It's not that Papyrus doesn't care and just wants your money, or that they felt that they absolutely had to release it so that everyone buys it for Christmas. Yes, they had to release it, but that was because they had a deadline to meet. They couldn't do what Microprose did and release N2 several months late. Then they would loose a ton of money. Well, they could afford that, right? No. Unlike many of you think, Papyrus and it's employees doesn't swim in money. Some of the features were probably left out because of the deadline, or because Papyrus didn't have the right people (like with the AI). Papyrus has worked *** N2 to satisfy the public, working overtime and even on the weekends for months.. Be happy with what you have. Gp2 has a ton of bugs in it AND many features where left out AND it was late AND we might not see a patch, but I still enjoy to game a lot. N2 was maybe a week delayed AND they are working on a patch right now. If some of you still think that Papyrus is only after your money and N2 is such a horrible sim, then take it back. No, I'm not saying all this because I am afraid of Papyrus and I want to suck up to them. If I think that a Papyrus product sucks, then I will tell Papyrus. But since I don't have encountered such a Papyrus product so far, I havn't had to tell them that (and I'm happy about that). There is nothing wrong with speaking your mind, but I'm getting tired (I'm probably not the only one) of people constantly complaining about Papyrus, this bug and that bug, this feature and that feature, etc. Papyrus knows that there are bugs and they are currently working on a patch. And to those of you that constantly complain about every little thing on every sim, I think that you are either very spoiled, or you're just complaining for the sake of complaining. If the perfect sim ever comes out, what are you gonna do? Complain about the fact that you have nothing to complain about then? Many companies including Papyrus are working very hard to satisfy the public. Like anyother product, a racing sim/game will never be totally bug free. Papyrus is the only company that has employees that say something in this newsgroup and try to help people. Do you see Electronic Arts in here? No. How about Microprose? No. Papyrus is the only company that says something in this newsgroup. I've never seen Geoff in this newsgroup. But Jim and Adam (or mostly Jim right now, Adam is pretty busy working on your patch) talk to you in this newsgroup. Bottom line: companies are working hard to satisfy the publics with racing sims/games, and Papyrus is one of them. Papyrus has probably put the most effort into it. Who else has made 4 to 5 great racing sims in the last few years? Give them a break. Making racing sims isn't that easy. A new software will always have bugs in it. If you don't like it, then take it back. But if you do like it, then great.
Interesting...I have'nt had a single hang...at Main Menu or elsewhere. I've never had a random failure with damage set to off. The spotter audio 'loop' *is* a minor annoyance, but I certainly enjoy the increased realism. N2 is brilliant, imho. cheers...duncan. >> I know software is going to have bugs but the more I play nascar2 the more >> pathetic it gets. Under Yellow - the spotter continues to yell go-low .... go-low. Also, the spotter will tell you to pass the next car on the track when you exit the pits and then tell you to get back behind that same car. Once you know this - you learn to just ignore him in these instances. I am sure that these will be patched.

Heaps Snippoed-------------- How true. Most people agree with what you said. You will allways get the complainers out there. I have know idea why they moan. They must be right. Papyrus just want our money and think we are stupid and make rubbish for us to be ripped off with. Come to earth some of you fools out there. Look at what we got. Indy500 the first real attemt and a decent sim to Nascar2. Ideas that customers come up with can be seen in the sims that these guys make. Sure some bugs. Mininal delay in release and allways a patch when needed. Support in this group know matter how silly the question. Yep they just want our money.. :-) Well all I can say they must have seen me and others coming as I have every produst that they have released including track packs and have been 99% happy most of the time. Maybe I am easy pleased. Shane Lansky Hobart,Tasmania Australia

I pretty much lived on it the first week I had it. I tried it out on Kali, with some success, and a raced a few friends across town. On these short races, I didn't really mind the few bugs it shipped with. I haven't seen any un-explained breakdowns, just when I forget to shift! Can lock it up at will when hosting a 3+ player Kali game. This is with either KaliDos or Kali95. Otherwise, I hardly ever have it lock on me. Then you need to race a little more. The spotter gets so confused at times that you just want to put him out of his misery. This usually only happens when a large wreck has occured, but once it does, look out! Saw the post, but am still waiting on the patch. I will not be returning this game, because I can see the games potiential, but until there is a released patch, that fixes the spotter and the AI at some of the tracks ( Atlanta for 1 ), I won't be running any Championship Seasons. Got a few races into one, and got so frustrated I haven't even loaded N2 since before Christmas. Not off the scale, but we, or at least I, didn't expect the succesor to an existing program to contain so many bugs, or to have some of our pre-existing features left out. ( Save Game ) The new graphics are ok, but not worth the hit the games performance has taken. My poor old P-120 is now almost inadequate to play the game AND display all those new graphics even with the Reactor. ICRII Rendition runs rings around the N2 Rendition on my system. What would you have us base it on? GP1 perhaps? When I went from N1 to N2, of course I used the N1 for my baseline. Just because the origional N1 had / has bugs doesn't mean that the new release HAS to be buggy also, does it? Yes, of course anything this complex will have bugs. But when the bugs are so obvious and annoying to someone who just plays it occasionally, surely the SIM fanatics who wrote the thing knew they were there, and had the ability to fix them. Time constraints? Sorry, don't buy it. Oh God, Christmas is coming, Christmas is coming! Release, release!! Patch it later. They made the deadline, got in on the Christmas frenzy, and ticked not a few people off in doing so. I can wait. Hope they fix it in the first patch. I would rather wait a few months for a ' all know bugs squashed ' version than get a patch that fixes a few at a time. There are other things that I could be doing than sitting around waiting on a patch. They will release it when it is ready and, I hope, not before. Just think, if you left you could cut out 100% of us whiners. Ever hear the old saying ' The squeaky wheel gets the grease ' ? Just think of us whiners as ' Squeaky Wheels '. Have a nice day,

Again, doesn't matter who makes the game, there will ALWAYS be bugs in a game. I think that the save game feature was left out because they wanted to make a better one than NASCAR 1's, but didn't have the time. I never liked the save race feature in NASCAR 1, not because I never use it, but because it was pretty stupid. Gp2's save race feature is a lot better. In NASCAR 1 you had to line up under a yellow flag. The spotter does yell weird things occasionally, but I can live with it. The graphics are great. I have a P133 with 16 megs of RAM, and I can run N2 in SVGA mode twice as fast as I could run N1. Maybe the game doesn't run slow or locks up because of bugs, but maybe it's your computer. If those problems were caused by bugs, then pretty much everyone would have those problems. I don't understand why some of you expect Sierra to just have just kept on moving the deadline until N2 is perfect. Do you know what that would do? They would have lost a lot of money and a lot of you would have been pissed at them for the delay. Just like with Gp2. I'm not flaming anyone. I don't have a problem with anyone complaining about N2, but I wish that you would use constructive criticism, and stop this "Papyrus is totally retarded because they forgot the save game feature" "Sierra just wants your money." "***!", "N2's AI isn't that good because Sierra is afraid a good AI would hurt multiplayer participation!" and all that other ridiculous crap. Some of you are pretty paranoid. If you don't like the game, take it back. If you're upset that there is no save race feature then tell Papyrus "Hey, what about the save race feature? I like running 100% races but don't have the time to finish a race all in one session. I hope you make a patch." instead of "You forgot the race save feature! Too lazy, eh? You just want our money!" Or learn to live with the bugs until the patch comes out. At least there will be a patch. Where is Gp2's patch? I don't see one.
