I have noticed that anyone who posts a negative comment about NASCAR2 gets flamed. I didn't know this was the PR board for Sierra. Are we afraid of offending our Papyrus buddies? Well, I loved the original Nascar game. It was unique in that it brought a lot of non-game players to the computer because of their love of NASCAR. But, IMHO, I am very disappointed with NASCAR2. Graphics excluded, the engine is demanding (too demanding...many people can get better frame rates with the old game), many options were left on the cutting room floor, many gamers can't get proper sound, NO SAVE OPTION, the mouse interface is crap, the paintkit interface is still a pain, and for a lot of us, it crashes as much as it runs when we move from menu to menu. It was rushed to market, for Christmas. And Sierra wants your money. It's about $$$$. And whatever goodwill Papyrus developed with it's consumer base, Seirra flushed away with the release of this bug-riddled game. And before someone starts whining about a PATCH coming, two points. 1. Who says every gamer has access to the internet to download the patch..... 2. Why do computer gamers settle for less than perfect when they purchase a product. Patch? When you buy a new car...and the brakes don't work...do you say "it's OK, a patch is coming in a couple months." A lot of consumers don't come back when the software industry gives them the shaft. And this "Patch" attitude reinforces shoddy workmanship. I wanted NASCAR2 to be great, I loved the original game and the sport. But it's not!! And kissing Papyrus/Sierra's ass doesn't make things better! I'll remember NASCAR2 the next time I'm at the store and about to purchase some software. If the side of the box reads "Seirra", I'll put it back. ITS THE ONLY OPTION I HAVE! If you purchased NASCAR2 and it works perfectly, I'm happy for you. But a lot of us aren't so lucky. And we shouldn't have to invest $2,000.00 to get a $50.00 game to work (as advertised). And most inportantly, WE ARE ENTITLED OUR OWN OPINION! Flame me. I'm busying watching my screen freeze as I move from menu to menu in NASCAR2!

Ok..I'll flame you.... Take it back and shut up. This is not the complaints department. Send all complaints direct to Sierra. Maybe your crappy computer cannot handle next-gen software like Nascar2? Sell your 386DX and get a real computer. Maybe you'll get better frame-rates. Then again, maybe not. I doubt you would know what to do with a P200. My opinion is that you are a big cry-baby. Again, take Nascar2 back and shut the hell up. cornhole

(snip) (unsnip) Exactly right........which is why most of us who bought it love the game regardless of the glitches. -- BruceK

What's your problem man. The guy is just expressing his own opinion of the game. It's idiots like you that ruin these newsgroups for all of us 'normal' people. And just for your info - I HAVE GOT A P200 with a Rendition video card and at some tracks the frame rate is still unacceptable.

Are you using DMA? If so, I can't imagine why your framerate would not be acceptable (perhaps except at Martinsville)... If you're not using DMA, that's the problem right there... ---Jim Sokoloff, Papyrus

Hmm.... maybe I'm wrong but it sounds like you too are whining!!!!

Hear, Hear... I agree 100%. Since when did the people decide it's ok to take shoddy ANYTHING! It's just like politics too many people think "oh thats just the way it is" I say BULL%*&^, there is no reason ANY company should be able to release poor qualitiy workmanship, no matter what the product. Unfortunately computer software is one of the worst areas for this exact thing. Take a look at Windows 95. Shipped with how many known bugs? And yes I know all the arguments, it's so hard to program things for ump*** million machine combos, it's this, it's that... Well no one ever said things were easy, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I also agree there should be no reason for flaming someone for posting their feelings and gripes. Maybe if more people shared their true feelings instead of the old "There's a patch coming" then the software companies would get the idea and make things right the first time.

The guy is an idiot. He is expressing his complaints AND WHINING LIKE A BABY. That is not an opinion. I suppose that when a 2 year old stomps around and screams at the top of his lungs because he can't have a cookie then you would say that is his opinion. The kid needs slapped a few times. And it is idiots like this that remind me of 2-year old brats. And if I can flame these idiots for doing so, then so much the better. Every normal person knows that Nascar2 is the premiere racing sim bar none. It is idiots like you and a few others who have the biggest mouths. I've decided to stand up for Sierra because Nascar2 is a dream come true for me. I really don't know where all these "bugs" are coming from which a few of you claim to be experiencing. Maybe your hardware is just crap. Anymore, if a guy gets cut off by Darrel Waltrip #17 on Talledega, it's got to be a bug! It's a bug! Fix it! WWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! > What's your problem man. The guy is just expressing his own opinion of > the game. Yes - Martinsville requires the stands to be turned off in order to race. I have looked at the 3DO for martinsville and am at a loss as to why the this track is so demanding. I do uinderstand that the tight turns at Martinsville requires recalculation of the 3D view very quickly - but still I cannot explain the poor frame rates coming off the turns. I run a P200, Reactor with dma and dma scores at 75-78 mbytes. Tracks like Dover produce excellent graphics detail and frame rates. /THansen

I commend Papyrus for even paying attention to the Newsgroups. Especially the ***they tolorate... (even from me) You don't see support from 90% of the software companies out there. I agree with some things being left out of the sim. I'd be interested to know what kind of system your trying to push NASCAR 2 on tho'. Your descibing problems that the majority of users don't seem to be having trouble with. Yes, right or wrong, that's why it's a business... Sierra will never score very high in my book for their Marketing tactics tho'. I don't believe that All use "Driver's" are going to storm Papyrus' office with pitchforks and torches because of Horrible management by Sierra. A few points.... 1) How many pieces of software do you know of that are released "Bug-Free"?? Maybe if the huddled mass's hadn't complained about the release date not being "soon enough" a couple of the obvious bug's wouldn't be there. Who knows?? 2) No Net access? Well.... I guess they need to make sure they send in that little card that comes with the software. "Product Registration"? If you feel like you "Got the shaft" you really should just consider taking the software back to the place you got it from. Yea upgrading to keep up with the latest games is both expensive as well as a real drag. But that's the way it is with this stuff. As the old NASCAR calander here reads..... "If ya can't run with the big dogs... stay off the porch!" Still sounds like a Hardware problem to me! Hope things work out for you :) Andy
