Gee!! With all the programmers that Sierra/Papy has plus having the source code, you would think that their would be an effort to SUPPORTall the CUSTOMERS who have purchased NASCAR2. A patch could be written in under a week addressing all of the bugs listed to date. And I don't buy the stall that they want to take their time to address all the problems before they put out a patch. That is called a stall, guys. WAKE UP!!!! One example is the Atlanta pit bug which in effect made that track (one of my favorites) too frustrating to run. So I looked into the text file, got lucky, and fixed the problem in a short time. The fix is now in the US PITS. Such a major***up could have been fixed and posted by PAPY/SIERRA in 1 day without a problem. They're the experts at this software not me. I know I'm going to get blasted for this but someone has to ask WHEN and PAPY/SIERRA owes us their customers an answer. I will add, so no one gets the wrong idea ( yeah right!) I love NASCAR2 . and do not regret purchasing it or any other PAPY sims, however the fact remains, we are getting our fixes and utilities from users who care enough to share. Thats great but where is the support from the guys who got our money????? Im going to the bomb shelter now waiting for my PAPY bomb run. Im taking my computer and running Taladega pretending it's DATONA!!!!
Please have the patience to wait until Papy get all the bug reports together and prioritise whatever the patch will address. For God's sake, don't push them into a corner over a patch.....there was enough pressure from us prior to the initial N2 release. Rest assured in the fact that a patch WILL eventuate....unlike a much-needed overhaul of another racing simulation I won't mention. -- BruceK VR #31, Pro. <snip> : One example is the Atlanta pit bug which in effect made that track : (one of my favorites) too frustrating to run. : So I looked into the text file, got lucky, and fixed the problem in : a short time. The fix is now in the US PITS. The fix is not really a fix. This fix is just a work around. There is code to accept the data put in the text file and modify the way the AI and pit car handle the braking and distance going into the pits. The data supplied us by Papyrus was incorrect. I also assume that the Papyrus gang really want to give us a "well constructed" save game feature. One that will work better than previous Papyrus efforts. Now if this was as easy as you believe it is to do, we would have had it in the game when it was first released. Also, once Papyrus is done with it, Sierra will take it and construct their own "patch" routine. This then needs to be tested by the Sierra folks, and I would say they are very slow at this based on the time frame of the ICR2 final patch. The Papyrus gang was finished with the patch weeks before Sierra would release it. Some of the other fixes needed can't be that easy to code either or else they would have been in the game when it was released. Issues dealing with the size of the Active driver list, multi-player issues, etc. I would also assume that they are attempting to polish the Rendition coding (and hopefully smooth out a couple of the trouble-some frame rate tracks). As a programmer I know that once code has reached the state of "almost" perfect, minor changes have a way of toppling portions of code once thought stable. Programming is not a science, it's an art. Let's give the Papyrus artists some time produce a piece of fine art, not just a piece of hack. There is alot more going on in the art studios of Papyrus than you can imagine on perfecting this gem we call Nascar Racing 2. -- **************************** Michael E. Why are you complexed about a patch? Papyrus/Sierra is doing a great job by doing overtime on a patch. Look at Microprose. Maybe when G Crammond will get out of his mansion in Hawaii he will MAYBE work on a patch. But the papy guys are working full time to make us, the SimRacer's, HAPPY!HAPPY!HAPPY!HAPPY! Papyrus is in the top 3 best compagnies for customers service. Do you see any other person like Jim Sokoloff or Adam Levesque who is devoting time to respond to people here in r.a.s.????? Do you see GCrammond here?(even if he would be flamed a lot!!) Also, I hope you will not die waiting for a patch. I hope. Just play the game and practice being better on tracks. Just wait. People doing utilities like The Pits or anybody else are helping Papyrus because they can spend more time repairing other bugs. If some person are chariting with you, accept them!. I would wait 6 months to see a patch and I would be frustrated. good race at the Brickyard, [===] Go R.
