Team Redline's Spa released for NR2003

Jason Moyer announced Team Redline's Spa-Francorchamps for NASCAR Racing 2003, praising its accurate layout and detail. Drivers paired it with the TPTCC mod's new 2.4 physics, which added a lighter touring-car class, and discussed Nordschleife conversions, with some hoping for a polished version of the old full Spa.

It's out and available at bhmotorports.com if you have BitTorrent (lots of people sharing too, managed to max out my downstream getting it). The layout seems as accurate as anything we've had in a sim. Just from a few laps and getting an initial impression it seems to have a similar level of detail and track layout accuracy as the GP4 and GTR-demo versions, which are both very nice. I'd give it a big thumbs up, much better than the F1c-inspired Magny Cours they released several months ago.

Looks good downloading now.
Between TR's Spa and SimBin's in the GTR demo, I feel like I live in a forest in Belgium. I've been driving the TPTCC's Touring Cars (kinda F2 cars to the T/A's F1) and the combo is fantastic! Feels a lot like the Lister Storm, only more Papyrus-y. Another reason to get the latest (2.4) ver of the TPTCC nod: a nighttime ver of Sebring...complete w. headlight FX! They look remarkably like the real thing...only I can't find the switch for the high beams! "Jason Moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

There's a nice place where you can watch from outside the track where the view is unobscured in reality (although during an F1 race you probably can't get there :) Achim
Well, as I remember from Malmedy in 1944 (or "Band of Brothers" on the telly last nite), the forestation in the Ardennes is lovely, dark and deep...but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep. ;o) "Joachim Trensz" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Yeah, I've been driving those physics too. I love the default pta, don't get me wrong, but the new pta physics feel quite a bit more like what I'd expect out of a trans am-spec car. Zandvoort is an absolute blast in the new physics. Jason

Anyone have a link to download the 2.4 TPTCC physics? (Currently, I have 2.1) Thanks! Steve Smith wrote:

The weight and horsepower are reduced...that is the biggest change and Tim limited some of the setup options. So a SLOW Trans Am car...:) dave henrie
It's not *supposed* to be a T/A; it's supposed to be something more along the lines of a DTM or BTCC car; much lighter than a T/A (thus more grip and demon brakes) and abt. half the horsepower. Yeah, the limited setup options is pants...altho I do love being able to dial in more than 1.8 deg. of neg. camber at the back. "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

You know, no matter how badly one might suck at this track, or road-racing in general, you just can't help but LOVE the ring :) I feel the same way about SPA too. -Larry "Jason Moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

What are you guys talking about ? New "PTA" physics, Pants, limited setup options.... I'm lost. The Pants part really screwed up my head :) -Larry "Steve Smith" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:%j5Cc.246017$[email hidden]... > It's not *supposed* to be a T/A; it's supposed to be something more along > the lines of a DTM or BTCC car; much lighter than a T/A (thus more gripand

Next...you might have heard of Tim McArthur's endurance league. One of his notions is to have mixed class racing. So he's gotten a hacked exe of Nr2k3 that changes some of the physics of the cars...lighter weight...less horsepower and a few other odd bits. So the advantage with that concept is the fast GT type cars in the tptcc mod can race online, side by side with these slower lighter cars. KINDA like Porche 911's sharing the track with Audi R8's. dave henrie

The Ring is about the only track I drive anymore. Almost all other tracks now bore me to death, seem flat as pancakes in comparison, are just dry technical exercises in perfecting your braking points and lines, etc. But the Ring is more of a mystical experience. :-) I still drive old Spa when I'm in the mood to keep it floored 80% of the way around, tho: the new section on this new modern version I find rather uncompelling... John DiFool
Like Dave sez: the 2 classes are GT and TC, akin to GPL's F1 and F2. The TCs are much lighter (ca. 2400 lbs.) much less powerful (ca. 300 hp)., and have one less gear, but have abt. the same amt. of rubber as the GTs, thus have monster grip and demon brakes. Not sure abt. the fuel economy, but at a track like Avus, Daytona, or Le Mans, the GTs would be much faster. At Symmons Plains, Phillip Ilsand, or Heartland, the two classes should be much closer in lap times. "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Damn, I was hoping this was the old FULL SPA. I know noonan's converter does Spa and the Ring, but the graphics at the ring are all screwd up (even with the patches). Has anyone created a FULL version of SPA and the Ring that is really tidied up nicely? -Larry "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:nZECc.6578$rf7.3241@lakeread02...

Hm. Nurby has the "floating track" thing which seems to creep into every conversion of it, but I haven't had any issues with the conversion of spa from the full/patched n2003 converter. Are you having any specific graphic bugs there or are you just looking for a PWF-style makeover?

I don't mind having to go thru there slower, but I DO mind (a) having the front tires go into a skid going up the hill, and (b) the rear tires losing traction when they crest the hill. And I say that knowing that Papy's GPL version is probably faster than it was in '67... John D

I'd like to see shadows on both tracks, something which hugely impresses me about both the new Spa as well as the new Le Mans... JD
PWF style make-over. SPA is ok. My favorite road course. THe Ring conversion is just plain goofy in area's... -Larry "Jason Moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
