ICR II and NASCAR questions

3 posts by 3 people · 25 Mar 1997 - 26 Mar 1997

Is there a reason why on my version of ICR II I'm only running 235 at Michigan while at my brothers I've run 238 & 239 using the same specs and weather ? He's using the Dos while I'm running the Mac version of the game. He came over and ran some laps and we just don't understand why my car is slower. Also I'm interested in getting NASCAR for my Mac but I've heard some rumblings that there are bugs in it. Is that true ? Please e-mail me with your answers. Thanks in adavance, J.Yeager

As far as I know, the DOS/Windows/Mac version of ICR2 are identical (you can even use DOS carsets and tracks). There should be no difference. On the other hand, early DOS-versions contain at least one bug which causes problems for the first 15 minutes the program is running. Are you playing with keyboard, joystick or wheel? Maybe the input device behaves a bit different ... with keyboard you are especially lousy at michigan (because you can't set the wheel lock lower than 5). I can't beat 229 ... 8^( Another cause could be a different framerate. At higher framerate you can drive more exactly which results in slightly better lap times. Nascar for Mac is the same as Nascar1 for PC but adds the 96 season and a better user interface. If came out _after_ ICR2/Mac and contains in my opinion less bugs. I also get the feeling that the framerate is slightly better. Also note that the Nascar/Mac-CD is not hybrid, it only contains the Mac version. I am definitely ***ed to both! There were changes in the Michigan track that made it much harder to get the same speeds with the unpatched version. I am assuming that the Mac version includes the "patched" Michigan. This could explain it. -- **************************** Michael E. Carver ************************* Upside out, or inside down...False alarm the only game in town. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=<[ /./.
