NFS2 Joystick problem

2 posts by 2 people · 21 Apr 1997 - 23 Apr 1997

I'm having a strange problem with NFS2: my CH FlightStick (analog joystick) works for the menus but doesn't do anything in the actual race game. I've calibrated it repeatedly, and it works in I76 without changing anything. Has anyone seen this? BTW, h/w is P120, 32MB, Virge DX 4MB, SB32 PnP. Mike Horgan

Installing the mouse drivers > under windows did not work, I had to cd to A:\ & install from the > floppy. After that everything works great. To play the game, cd to > c:\sierra\nascar2 & type "nascar2". After playing the game cd to > "mouse" & type "exit" & windows will restart.
Mike I have been having problems with my joystick port (Sound Blaster 16 Pnp) and Sidewinder Pro Joystick. I found that the current draw for the Sidewinder (25mA +) was draging the 5V down to about 3.2V. It appears the Sound Blaster Board has a 50 ohm protection resistor (a quick check of some other game ports don't have anything other than the PCB board tracks to stop 20A short ccts). I'm still digging into the problem. If you want see my other postings in the aus.computers.ibm-pc newsgroup (about 20/4/97). regards Barry Chaseling
