HAWAII Drivers: Lately an unnamed drivers has accused me of dirty driving by blocking him at dega when I was in front of him. He said was I was a dirty driver because I was in front of him drove below the line (NON-SENSE). I ask the readership that I race against at dega have you ever experinced me driving dirty. OK. I am ready for the good, the bad and the Ugly about me. Driving below the line is the crazy as its the slowest way around DEGA. If he couldnt pass me he must be driving a HOUSE!!! Don Wilshe, IVGA

Don you can say Paul Carillon is the one I have no problem with it because i know the guys i race with no the type of driver i am and respect me for it.I never called you a "Dirty" driver all i said was nice blocking thats all.If you remember right i did pass you and then you returned the favor so no big deal. The problem i had and i guess its in the drivers eye what is ment by "racing" but i felt and i wish i had the replay to show you are a Liar to show anyone who wants to see it that you rode the white line all the way down the backstretch for the last 7 or so laps which i feel as someone else stated is Chicken S**T racing. The thing about it is i dont need to lead every lap to prove i am a good driver or even win but some people just need to do what ever they can to win a race.I guess i enjoy racing and trying to slingshot to pass someone and get by them rather than ride the line so they wont attempt to go under me for fear of causing a wreck and losing those valuable "skill points" it might encure.Because like i said i would have went to the grass if i had the oppurtunity and if a wreck would have become of it then so be it but what i didnt mean was i would intentionaly wrck you or anyone which is what the first message was construded to mean oh well . >Driving below the line is > the crazy as its the slowest way around DEGA. If he > couldnt pass me he must be driving a HOUSE!!! Don i believe the low line thru the corners is thte fastest way to get thru the turns but if exit the turn and stay on the white line so noone gets under you then the low line is the fatsest down the backstretch also because more than likely if you get help down the backstretch you wont be able to complete the pass by the time you get into 3 so the inside driver then has the advantage again so either you back out or you try to race 2 wide thru the tri-oval which we all know is an accident waiting to happen more times then not...But Don i will see you Tally and when i bring my Ford which is about a half a mile an hour faster than my Chevy we will see how you drive with me on your A** :) BTW Don you can use my name when you talk about me i am not ashamed about my opinion and am not worried about what someone might think about me: :-) Have good Day! Paul Carillon
I wouldn't know Don you have never been infront of me at Dega that I can think of but as for you following me and drafting me I have had no serious problems.I have to admit even though we have differnces of opinions which me and you know what they are and I leave that right there. But even though for these differences I have to say you are one of the few people I'm not scared to dice it up with. Paul, Did you watch the Bush race? I like Mark Martin usualy.... but Im a huge Steve Park fan and that PATHETIC display of Blocking really pissed me off. I agree with you I don't like blocking. Run the fast line play the chess game and see who wins, Making your car "wide" is one thing but swerveing all over the place is another. It realy bugs me on hawaii. Although two cars working together can pass on the outside there, usualy if you insist on riding the line you can stay out front. But most of the time one of the guys behind ends up punting the leader and then about 5 inocent bystanders get taken out. Thats what really sucks see you at the Rock I hope!

But what's he supposed to do Brad, just ride his line and wait for Park to get a run and blow past him? That's what would've happened, because Park was getting good runs. Mirror driving is a big part of racing at 'Dega and Daytona. Has been for years. Most of the time, the guy in front wins (like Phil Parsons did at 'Dega in '88), sometimes, the guy behind manages to get beside the blocking car and go past (like Martin did to Earnhardt two years ago at 'Dega). But of course, sometimes mirror driving results in a wreck (Cale and Donnie in the '79 Daytona 500). Personally, I prefer Bill Elliott's strategy when it comes to holding a lead at Daytona and Talladega, and I employ it when racing online. Bill runs his normal line out of the turns, then just as the cars in the train fall in behind, he dives to the inside. If the other cars follow (they usually do) he drives back to the outside. This essentially breaks up the air, and keeps the cars behind from getting a good run on him. He'll do this both on the backstraight, and in the tri-oval. However, I have no problem with a driver blocking to keep the lead in the last 10 laps of a race. I think it's rediculous to do it any other time, though. Pat it shouldn't make any differance to you your always so far ahead of the rest of us there you dont need to block. I guess I just remeber the old pre restrictor plate days to much. There would be one "slingshot" after another the last 10 laps jockeying to see who could be IN SECOND on the last lap. See you at Sears! Them were the days.
