Ok, ok I was warned about this game by you guys from Europe. But did not listen. I was in Atlanta today on Business (I'm from Savannah) and went to the EB at Lenox Square Mall and picked up their only copy of the game that they got. Now I know why they only got one copy! First off, my system is more than adequate: Intense 3-d (Rendition), P-200, 32 MB of RAM. This game has absolutely nothing, going for it. Controls are awful. Even people who hated the game said the graphics were pretty good. I don't see it. They were terrible!! I had the game on my machine for 15 minutes before I unistalled it! It will be taken back to the local EB here in Savannah tommorrow. I thought it would tide me over till Starting Grid or F1 by Ubisoft comes out. Guess not. Richard hey were is my

Are you sure you didn't but powerf1 by eidos?

I was in Atlanta today on Business (I'm from Savannah) Well, you're not alone. 8^( I sold it two days ago. 8^) That's what I thought, too! Of course, the filtering etc. looks good, like in any other accelerated game. But in a lot of external views it looks like the cars are shrinking and growing. The relative size of the cars just isn't right... I don't know!? l8er ronny

Im not sure if im alone but i think Formula 1 rocks! The graphics are awesome, and the track representation is fantastic.. the way the track turns, dips, goes up is great! Ok so the controls may be dodgy, but after a few laps they where fine. Paul.

I beg to differ - I thought Destruction Derby 2 was the most disappointing title of the year, also by Psygnosis. What's up w/these guys? Don't they follow the newsgroups. People are complaining about how arrogant Papyrus is, geez. I think Psygnosis is arrogant -- they release ***and don't answer their email !! Guess the new Thunder Truck Rally from Psygnosis is gonna suck ... Darn!

You know.. once upon a time (in AmigaLand) Psygnosis used to make the BEST damned games for the time (Lemmings, Infestation, ArmourGeddon, etc.), now it seems all they can put out is crap. All the good programmers must have left or something real bad happened to the company that we're not aware of. It really saddens me to see this happen. :(

I don't understand your post. The gameplay/AI may leave many cold, but the graphics in F1 are drop-dead gorgeous. At least with a 3dfx. Maybe the Rendition doesn't support bilinear filtering? In fact F1 has become the game I use to showcase my 3dfx to friends, for both the graphics and the sense of speed (I show them Motot Racer too). Even the gameplay's not that bad, except the brain-dead AI does get irritating sometimes. Joe

Very strange - I have a Monster 3D and am having no problem whatsoever. Are you sure you installed the 3dfx-specific version, not D3D? Yeah, that's irritating. A minot annoyance though. The game is REALLY and arcade game - to the point where you should NOT use an analog joystick, it just isn't designed for it. Try a gamepad. Really. Not so. There is a driving line in the 3dfx version (it is optional, turned on by default - you must have turned it off somehow). A bit of a disappointment, true, but nothing suprising if you've been reading reviews of the game here. Joe

I also decided to buy F1, despite what people had said here. MAJOR MISTAKE. This is by far the worst driving game I've ever played. Yes, the graphics looked great, but everything else was ----. When I tried to run the 3DFX specific version, the screen was extremely dark, no matter how I adjusted the monitor brightness, or the gamma settings for my Monster 3D. At Hockenheim (I tried that because it is an 'easy' track) it was very annoying watching the trees being drawn as I raced. Even at the NINJA setting. The game set the CD and WAVE volume levels to MAXIMUM. I could adjust the various digital sound levels, but there appeared to be no way to set the CD music volume outside of a race. I would prefer to be using the menus without any sound at all. I tried both my Sidewinder 3D Pro, and a Thrustmaster T2, and found the driving unusual. The throttle was very coarse. There was no idle, it sounded like the engine was off if you weren't touching the pedals. In fact, the car did not coast down when you let off the throttle. It stopped. (I had the throttle and braking aids OFF.) Also, in the 3DFX version, there was no driving guide line. The car setup was limited to a simple 4 or 5 step downforce adjustment. No way to adjust front or rear separately. Unfortunately, no place around here will let you return opened software. After about 30 minutes of fiddling around, and lots of cursing, I destroyed it.
