I have a AMD K6 200MHZ and 32 MB ram with STB Nitro 3D card. I turn all the funtions on in the options in graphics and it estimated a 25.6 FPS. But when i play the game, it is still kind of jerky. But i don't think that a K6 200 will do this because this game is quite old.

The figure given here should be hovering around 100% if it is consistently above 100% then you should reduce the frame rate in the graphics option as the sim will slow the sim-time down to keep up (actual frames per real second will drop but a sim-second is extended to however long 25.6 frames takes). Genreally the recommended frame rate is lower than the estiamted one by approx 2 fps to give some breathing space.
Hi, Phillip, I just got this sim GP2 as well so I am still trying different things too. I am sure one of the many GP2 veterans will answer more but, what I have found is be sure to run in svga and its best run from DOS. Also I will answer your other post to RE: CPR improved D3D?? I am using the STB Velocity 128 but the AGP version not the PCI. Also I posted last night a report about RivaReg from Jesse Cook its a great Reg. patch that really improved my software rendered speed in CPR. Unfortunately it didn't help with the flashing in DAD mode ;-( I have been told by SB its a known issue and they are working on some new drivers. Aloha, Mike

Thanks for this advice, i just found out that my CPU occupancy was 260% at least while it use my estimeate FPS. But when i turn down the framerate in Graphic options, it is actually faster in the actual game and the CPU occupancy was at about 100%. The more i turn down the FPS, the faster i get in the game but it is very hard to save a fishtailing. Also, one more thing is that when i browse through menus, I go to the menu, everything was great but after 1 second, there is a load in CD Rom and my mouse Stops for a moment causing me to press on the wrong menu. I am using small installation and anybody else have this problem??? But does this happen with the bigger installation?? If not, i will chose the bigger one now. Thanks for your advice!!!

The delay is caused by the game starting to play music during the menu selections. I turned this off and there is no problem. John -- John Hartridge | FUJIFILM Electonic Imaging Ltd, ext 3282 | Three Cherry Trees Lane,

At the time, NO machine was capable of running it full-detail, SVGA 25fps with a processor occupancy under 100% all the time. At THIS moment, you'll need AT LEAST a PII 300 to get that performance always and everywhere (not speaking about external views and moments when you get smoke in your view... That will take a PII-600 or something....) However, with your machine you should get fine results by turning off sky texture and some mirror textures. Maybe go to 23fps instead of 25 (shouldn't make THAT much difference) As said before, you should always set the framerate about 2fps lower than the "recommended" to get fluid. Running in DOS makes another slight improvement (I "feel" the difference as 1-2 fps compared with running from Win95). You could also replace the***pit graphic by one of the many available on the Net. Some have a bigger "display", leaving a smaller area of the screen to be updated. This can also make you gain some fps. AND you could overclock to 233 Mhz... As you can see, lots of possibilities to get better performance! But don't let frustration for missing 2-3fps spoil the game for you. It's excellent stuff anyway!
