Burnout Frames rates (Fps)

6 posts by 5 people · 02 May 1998 - 06 May 1998

Hey guys and gals, Yesterday, I added the -f command to my shortcut to get an idea of what kind of frame rates I'm getting with my HP166 with 16meg of ram with the software version ( non 3dfx) I was shocked to see the rates vary from 7 to 20 fps ! This is ridicuously LOW. It doesn't seem choppy or Slow mo. What do you all think ? Has anyone tried this option? I guess I need to breakdown and buy a Canopus Pure 3dfx card using Voodoo 1. Tim

The box should read...."Don't even play this game without a 3DFX card". The game was unplayable on my stealth II. The difference I've seen on a system with a Monster 3D, is like night and day. We'll see what NHRA has for graphics, it's to be released on May 28th. Scott

Guys, if you dont yet have a 3dfx card, go out and get one today. The difference from not having one to having a 3dfx card is like going from a 486-66 to a PII-300. Dont wait, you are losing out on many options and games. The NHRA game from Tantrum is 3dfx ONLY. You will NOT be able to play it wihout a 3dfx card. Plan on seeing many games coming out in the future with the same requirements. Dont worry about the price of a 3dfx card, it is worth every penny. Plus, if you look in the right places, you can find literally hundreds of the first generation voodoo cards for $50 - $100. Check news groups, or message boards. Im telling you, if you dont have a 3dfx card, you are so behind the times in PC games that I would tend to think that youmust still be using DOS 5.0. Get with the times people. What is the best 3dfx card? There are too many opinions on that, but I have a Diamond Monster 3d - first generation with a P-200 no MMX. I get great framerates from all my games: Burnout gets over 100 fps. Quake - 50+ fps Quake 2 - 30+ fps LB2 - silky smooth, full detail N2 - never been a problem GP2 - loser of a company, need to get with times F1RS - no bad full detail Foresaken - Baby ***soft GPL demo - almost perfect >The box should read...."Don't even play this game without a 3DFX card". Good info. I guess my Intergraph card with the Rendition chip is behind the times now, right?
