Hi All...
First, thanks to some of you that pointed me in the right directions to
get a GP2 '98 carset, and GP2 Edit. As per advice from r.a.s.'ers.,
I've installed GP2 Edit (in it's own folder... should I have placed it
in the GP2 folder?) and unzipped the carset to the GP2 Edit folder.
Once I run the GP2 Edit prog, I can get the '98 carset to appear on the
GP2 Edit paint screen. Thinking that was all there was to it, I then
booted back to DOS, and launched GP2. Hmmm... still got my old cars.
Obviously, I've missed something here.
Being not overly computer literate, I hesitate to start clicking on all
the widgets and buttons in the GP2 Edit menu (that looks to be a super
and versitile program)... can somebody fill me in on exactly which GP2
Edit button "loads" the carset into GP2? Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Doesn't matter where you place it, just makes it neater if you give it
it's own folder.
Easy peasy, First off copy from your gp2 directory the gp2.exe,
f1gstate.sav & f1system.dat files to a safe place, just in case
anything goes wrong, you can then copy them back and play gp2 (albeit
the *old* default gp2).
Start up your gp2edit program, select the file menu, select open,
choose the gp2 carset that you want to open (the files end in an *.gp2
extension, eg:- 1998.gp2).
Now choose the options menu from the main gp2edit screen, and select
export, gp2edit will now copy all the relevant data to gp2.
Now close down gp2edit, start up gp2, and away you go in all your 1998
seasons glory....

Thanks to all that helped me learn to export cars into GP2 via GP2 Edit.
The '98 cars are gorgeous, and it's fun to be out there mixing it up
with the cars and names I get to occassionally see on Fox Sports.
Now... if I can just get better! Is it my imagination, or are these
drivers tougher than the defaut cars? If so... is there an easy way to
take a % or two off their abilities? I mean... I'd at least like to
have a shot at a podium finish. (I'm not too good at GP2... but I have
fun.)
Thanks again for the help...

Don't forget to first set the path to your GP2.exe via menu window > program
configuration!!!
