Good question ------ to a confusing issue. For the most part they are all one and the same in the SIM area. CHAMP CARS --------- INDY CARS ---------- CART are the same in sime, except that terrible waste of time by ABC Interactive last year called ROAD TO THE INDY 500. I understand it was so bad and that the powers that be were so possed, that the entire staff that developed it were fired on the spot when presented to the "BRASS". THOSE were the new Indy cars called IRL ------ which stands for INDY RACING LEAGUE --------------- they use stocl block but highly modified engines ------ different chassis --------- and a multitude of other things compared to CHAMP cars which use TURBOCHARGED special for racing engines ----------- different chassis from IRL , etc etc etc. Hope that assist you in clearing up the confusion. Believe me -------------- many in the U.S.A. are just as confused by the political bickering that brought about the TWO separate divisions in the first place, and s a result ----------- NASCAR racing is the largest spectator draw when it comes to motor racing in this country. Sorry, but NASCAR's popularity has nothing to do with anything thats happening in IRL, Cart, formula one, scca, or ANY other racing, of any type. There isn't any other series that can offer the kind of wheel to wheel, side by side racing that nascar does, constantly, week after week. How often do you see Indy cars run side by side and actually RACE with each other, not just pull up behind someone else, and blow right by them. Not very often. That isn't racing. That's nothing more than seeing how much speed you can get from the car, which, if all your interested in is speed then formula one, or indy cars are just great. But that isn't racing, and neither one of those two series has EVER been able to match the racing and e***ment of nascar. They never have and they never will, and THAT is why nascar racing is the most popular racing in the world. Of course that's only my opinion....

How often do you see Indy cars I find that there is MUCH more racing in CART (not IRL) than NASCAR anymore. With restrictor plates and aerodynamic changes every week, the Winston Cup boys are so equal that no one has more horsepower than anyone else to pass. I would rather see Zanardi and Andretti sling shotting past each other 4 times a lap at Michigan than Gordon and Jarrett running side by side or in a train for like 20 laps at a time!! But then that's my own personal taste.
I have watched plenty of Indy races where there was racing occurring throughout the pack...you just have to watch for it and know what to look for. There is plenty going on in both Nascar and Indy races, but they are different types of cars with different styles of 'racing'. I would agree that many people prefer to watch Nascar because the 'racing' is less subtle and easier to see but to state that IndyCar isn't racing is just plain untrue. All racers (except trials riders) try to see how much speed they can get from their mounts...that's why it's called 'racing' and yes, it is an integral part of the sport...certainly for the teams and drivers and some of us fans. Whew, opinionated. What 'world' would that be? I know people from other parts of the 'world' who would vehemently disagree. Mine too :) Mike

That's Oh please, they race on Oval tracks, thats not racing. Turn left, floor it, turn left, floor it, repeat like 300 times, and go home. You call that racing?

It's all racing. Ummm, NASCAR is the most popular form of racing in the world? Only if you consider that the world begins and ends in the USA. Statistically, Formula One is the most popular form of racing in the world.

You call that racing? or Oh please, they do dragracing, thats not racing. Floor it, and go home. You call that racing? Racing is about being fast as possible, every formula has his appeal/drawbacks.
