NR2003 & TPTCC - Car Files & Painting

Car files and painting for the NR2003 TPTCC mod

Larry asked how to make a car file for the TPTCC touring car mod for RASCAR. Tim Paullin converted his paint scheme for him, and John Simmons explained that the in-game paint shop looked broken because of hi-res paint schemes. Goy Larsen corrected a claim about a version 1.4, saying 1.3 was current and a four-make version was due soon.

Ok, I'm confused here... I have no time to paint a car for this, so I was just going to grab the AI_10 Ford Mustang, slap my numbers on it, and go. I copied the original TPTCC Car file and renamed it like it should be for RASCAR, and selected that as my online and offline car. Now, how the hell do I edit it to change the numbers? I have zero working knowledge of car paiting or how to apply said painting in NR2003. As it stands, I'm sure I'll show up as #98 in the race list, but the car will have a 10 on it. I prefer to have the 98 on it. Thanks :) -Larry

You would probably be better off starting with one of the templates from the US Pits. But if you want to use that car specifically I think you just have to export it from the NR2003 opponent manager, repaint it, and then import the new one. Larry, I did the same thing, just renamed one of the Corvettes. I then took it into the paint shop and erased the number and added my #42. I hope it works. bluestringer

I knew someone was going to suggest this, and that was my plan, but... When I bring up the painter in NR2003, the graphics are all screwed up. It's all smooshed up into the upper left hand corner of the paint window. -Larry "Haqsau" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > You would probably be better off starting with one of the templates fromthe > US Pits. Tim, I got it. Thanks! How did you do that? I know there was a utility floating around somewhere to convert paint jobs, but I seem to have lost track of it. Is that what you used ? -Larry "Tim Paullin" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:bsvpnn$bha$[email hidden]...

Sounds like Tim solved your problem, but for future ref you don't need to go into the paint shop to export the texture. Just go to the opponent manager, pick the car, and hit the export button at the bottom. It will save it as a TGA file in your imports_exports folder. Then edit it in Paint Shop Pro or something similar, and import it back in from the opponent manager. No Papy paint shop required. Your welcome. I used the paint shop in N2003. Exported the cup paint, imported it into tptcc. It's not a perfect fit, but it'll do for now. Tim "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:AHMIb.56722$hf1.8351@lakeread06...

It looks fine except for the one missing 'I' in "Pupperoni" on the left hand side. Otherwise it fits perfectly, especially the "Golden Retriever Rescue" letters on the back, which by luck fit the Mustang indents perfectly :) I did find that converter btw... -Larry "Tim Paullin" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:bt09rp$qqv$[email hidden]... > Your welcome. Then, when my regular buddies suggest swapping carfiles, the nightmare begins! Everything else is so well thought out, but this is a quagmire. When I'm running my preferred "run around and murder people" simulator and the server changes to a map I don't have, it automatically downloads and installs, I do nothing but join the carnage a minute later than everyone else. Why can't this just automatically swap carfiles with a switch for those with small hardrives or slow connections to turn it off? Don McCorkle

Several of the included cars with TPTCC are Mustangs. I find the visibility out of the Mustang to be far better than the Corvette. That's the only real reason I chose it. I felt like I had blinders on in the Vette. -Larry "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <qKYIb.57865$hf1.45588@lakeread06>, "Larry" <[email hidden]>writes: > > >It looks fine except for the one missing 'I' in "Pupperoni" on the lefthand > >side. The automatic provision of car files is something I think we would all love to see in NR2003, but I believe it has been omited due to bandwidth considerations. To distribute cars for a, say, 20 car field would take a long time. Now, what _would_ be neat is if it linked to an online car pool somewhere that someone could put their car, and it would only have to be downloaded the first time you race with someone. However the issue there would be you would end up with 9 million cars in your cars directories, and the management of duplicates would be another chore. -Larry "Woodie 83" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <bMYIb.57872$hf1.17166@lakeread06>, > "Larry" <[email hidden]> writes: > > >Wouldn't it be great if there was an external program written by someoneto > >handle ALL of the car painting needs for NR2003, including spitting outthe > >final, ready-to-use car :) > > Wouldn't it be great if the game itself would do this?
