Anyone tried Star Wars pod racing game yet?

Impressions of the Star Wars Episode I Racer game

Posters asked about the new Star Wars pod racing game. A spoof complaint that its physics were unrealistic compared with real pod racers briefly fooled ymenard. Opinions ranged from a boring arcade racer to a fun one with an impressive sense of speed and good force feedback on the Microsoft wheel.

I realize it's not an auto sim, but it's an arcade racer. How is it? Joe

It will be released May 24th according to Lucasarts.

I have tried this "SIM". The physics model is all wrong. REAL pod racers are so much easier to control. It ruined the entire experience for me, I was hoping for an accurate simulation experience. Perhaps these problems will be fixed in the future with the required patch.

Save your money. It's not a sim and it's a boring arcade racer. Arthur > I realize it's not an auto sim, but it's an arcade racer. How is it? > Joe -- ------------------------------------------------- alegardo at netcom dot see eh? -------------------------------------------------
>I realize it's not an auto sim, but it's an arcade racer. How is it? >Joe I tried it in the store today. It felt a lot like Pod. Pretty nice "otherworld" type graphics. It says it has FF support but they only had a regular joystick hooked up. -Bill

I love it. It's incredible. I don't know why people think otherwise, especially the guy who said "The physics are wrong, not like Real pod racing". UH hello in what Universe have you seen Pod races ? Did you saw the movie to judge yourself on how they control ? It's very similar, and the sensation is the same as in the movie. The track variety is great, the AI excellent. The controls are good, not incredible but I like the option to taunt the others ;-D . There is a nice career section where you really need to think about what upgrade you have to take. The graphics are great on the PC. The 64 is limited for that, unfortunately Get the PC version if you can. It's fast. WAY fast. It's a EXCELLENT arcade racer. One of the best on the market. Wipeout XL in 10times better. Heck and it's Star Wars. What can you say more ? It's very ***ive also. -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard/Nas-Frank> -- NROS Nascar sanctioned Guide http://www.nros.com/ -- SimRacing Online http://www.simracing.com/ -- Official mentally retarded guy of r.a.s. -- May the Downforce be with you... It's already in stores in Quebec as is the Phantom Menace adventure game.
Uh, I think it was an attempt at humor, friend...and I laughed, too! You may have missed the boat on that one... ;-) KS

>I love it. It's incredible. I picked it up on a whim. It's not half-bad. Some of the tracks are very good, and the graphics and sense of speed is incredible. Not sure how long it will last on the old hard-drive, but it's fun for now. Joe

The FF is fantastic. Slidy over ice, tight when your going really fast, all g-forces and that, and it really kicks when you press the boosters! And when you crash it really goes bonanza, which is a bad thing if your playing it at 3 am. Ian (oh yeah MSFF wheel)
