NFS High Stakes Turn Signals...

In NFS High Stakes for the Playstation, you were able to use the turn signals on the cars with the following command: To turn on the blinker, while driving hold L1 and then press left or right. To turn on the lights in the day hold L1 while driving and then press down and the lights will turn on. Can someone figure out how to control the left and right turn signals in the PC version? Thanks
Pardon my ignorance, but why?! : )

I never did figure that one out. You could also turn on the hazard lights. -- Remove "spam jammer" to reply Graffiti seen above a urinal in East Grand Forks, MN: "Please don't eat the big white mints!" My Yahoo! pager ID is Galley_SimRacer

It's a buzz using indicators (turn signals for anyone who doesn't know)? Man, you must be fun at parties... "Hey.. lets go open and close the fridge door and see the light switch on and off" M

Oooh, it's like that is it? What's wrong with a little bit of light entertainment? It's got to be more fun than discussing the physics model of the head rest in GPL for the nth time? And anyway, just what is the obsession with this game (yes, it is only a game)? I'm not saying I'm gonna use the damn indicators every time I change lane, (although the GPL brigade might; just for accuracy), but it's bound to make your mates laugh when you've come back from the pub, you pull over to the side (in the game that is), and bang on the hazards, "I'm just going for a piss"..... > It's a buzz using indicators (turn signals for anyone who doesn't know)? > Man, you must be fun at parties... FWIW, my wife notes that after all the time I've spent behind the wheel of various race sims over the past few years, she has more confidence than ever in my driving ability. Recently, however, we've both noticed that I fail to use my turn signals more often lately when I'm behind the wheel of a real vehicle. I attribute this to the fact that I spend more time behind the wheel in sims, where there are no turn signals. You perform the way you practice, it seems! <G> -- JB On Tue, 1 Jun 1999 19:57:31 +0100, "Rick May"

Heh... well I guess we'll disagree on this one. Personally I've proved time and time again that I can't use racing games drunk so it's not something I'd ever try. Unless, of course, Mario Kart 64 has indicators and hazards :P Anyway as far as GPL goes I also fail to see the fascination. Yah it's coo and stuff but it's not all that. M
GPL certainly isn't gonna be everyone's favourite race sim, so I'll just say this: If all you've done is throw it on the machine and***around with it for a few hours, watching the ass end swing around on you about 20 times a lap, then you haven't found out what it's all about. I didn't really come close to "hooking up" in this game until I had about 30 hours in, and then it just all of a sudden came together. Since then I've given away both my NFS games (honestly, I did!) and I just don't play N2 or N99 anymore, which were my mainstay previously. If you ain't interested, well, you ain't interested, but this game takes a lot of hours before it starts paying off. My two bits worth. Zog

That is very true - my own feeling is that GPL isn't hard to drive but it sure is hard to learn to drive. I can very easily drive around the track jumping off the throttle during entry phase to pop the car into lurid oversteer, then gather it all back up again on the exit. I remember when I first started driving I had major trouble completing a lap without a spin. I remember how nervous I was when I first drove a real car and how difficult everything seemed - these days it's totally automatic. GPL is the same, real difficult at first but after practice it becomes second nature. Cheers! John

Please start a GPL thread if you like. I'm still waiting for an answer on how to get the turn signals to work on the PC version of NFS HS. Thanks

But this is rec.autos.simulators, and any chaos theory master would tell you that any thread in this newsgroup will probably have a GPL mention somewhere in it ;) I would almost tell that it's natural selection! -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard/Nas-Frank> -- NROS Nascar sanctioned Guide http://www.nros.com/ -- SimRacing Online http://www.simracing.com/ -- Official mentally retarded guy of r.a.s. -- May the Downforce be with you... Yes -- it is the will of the Force. ;-) -- JB
It's so when you're racing, you can signal that you're turning one direction, then suddenly turn the other! Very clever! :-)

Hmmm.. Are you Tom Pabst posting as another name ? ;-) Let's add turn signals to GPL, so that rookies who are behind veterans at the Nurburgring can actually remember where to turn next <grin> -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard/Nas-Frank> -- NROS Nascar sanctioned Guide http://www.nros.com/ -- SimRacing Online http://www.simracing.com/ -- Official mentally retarded guy of r.a.s. -- May the Downforce be with you...
