AMD loss

Chris, But it is good that they lost less than expected <VBG> The biggest problem here is that Intel has the high end processors to subsidize the losses on the low end. Thus, they can beat AMD at a price war. If the Athlon does not meet up to expectations, Id expect AMD to have a super hard time competing in the market. It does not help when your president resigns either. Scott PA-Scott -- Scott B. Husted ICQ# 4395450
Still, thats a huge loss. And its either the 2nd or 3rd quarter in a row of losses. war. I don't see that as a problem. :) Well so far, its having a hard time convincing the people it needs to that the Athlon is any good, i.e. the big people such as Dell, HP, Compaq, etc. Perhaps he was forced out?

10 years ago AMD stock was selling for 17 dollars a share. NO splits, and 10 years later, AMD stock sells for 17 dollars a share. That is pitiful. Rik Anthrax

<SNIP> Well so far, its having a hard time convincing the people it needs to that The only major vendors who have given a flat no to the Athlon are the ones seated firmly in Intel's pocket. (You know, they fit in really nice and snugly next to that wallet....) Pretty much all the vendors whose noses aren't quite as far up Intel's bum will be releasing Athlon systems. Mike West 3DNow! AMD has strong tiers to compaq, and IBM, compaq's suck, but they do sell alot of pc's, and yes, AMD lost money last quarter, but it was less then expected, and the stock went up on the news. I cant wait to build an atholon system, hmmm, should i go dual cpu's :)
