Just installed the chi-chi new drivers for my V3 (which are excellent, btw; a
bit better image quality and FPS, and the smoke/dust is MUCH improved).
Wondering how they'd look in various sims, I ran a few replays to see.
Watching a replay in Viper(demo), I thought it seemed faster than before(it
DUH! Viper doesn't run in realtime either. A 1:03 lap took 1:08 in realtime,
nearly 10% off! No wonder Viper seems so slow. I can only wonder what it was
before, as I'd never bothered with it enough to notice. Then I tried
GP2(variably faster than realtime, even w/graphics maxed at Monaco), CART
Racing(seemed correct for a 1lap replay, w/100fps when driving),
Nascar1999demo(a bit fast; 3:00 min. replay = 2:57 realtime), and SCGT(correct
time, and still better in D3D than Glide). I knew about GP2, but was surprised
that Viper and N99 were off, especially so at the large error in Viper. Is
this common knowledge?
TIA,
Steve B.

Just wanted to update this (rather short:-)) thread. The timing error I
mentioned in Viper Racing occurs only in replay mode, which runs a bit slower
than realtime. Checking the watch while actually driving, the timing is
spot-on, so it doesn't affect gameplay at all. Thanks to Dave Broske at MGI
for clueing me in on this. Perhaps one more DUH! is in order....
Cheers,
Steve B.
