Hi,
Does anyone have any tweaking tips for GPL? I got a steady 36fps before I
installed 1.1 and now I get around 28-31fps. It may not sound much but I can
really tell the difference. Also, would a Voodoo3 give me a solid 36fps? At
present I have a PII 350, 128mb RAM, Voodoo2 8mb, SB AWE64, Sidewinder FF
wheel.

Are you able to get 36fps, when you lower the resolution and turn off
details ?
If not, then you maybe are a victim of the GPL 1.1 fps/slow-mo problem,
which hopefully will be solved soon with a new patch. I have no problem with
1.1, same fps as with 1.0. PIII 450, V3 3000, SBLiveValue, LWFF.
Generally, however, the best things to improve fps in GPL without hurting
display quality are:
Detail slider more to the left.
Turning off textures and objects in the mirrors.
Using less sounds played simultanously (helps in race starts).
Maybe turn off drivers arms, if you can live without them.

That type of equipment should be running GPL at max FPS with no problem....I
know may with less equipment than yours.
Yes.....a V3 card would help even more......but better than that......get rid of
that SB AWE64 sound card....it steals cpu cycles like a bandit. Get an SB Live
card...about $100....free up your cpu to render graphics and run the GPL
AI.....and you get cool 3D sounds too! What a deal....huh?
