Direct 3D fix for N3

3 posts by 2 people · 30 Sep 1999 - 01 Oct 1999

I have a TNT2 Ultra and Voodoo2 SLI setup and used to have the blurry problem with my TNT2 until I added the following line to my N3.ini file. RASTER_DEVICE 1 N3 still uses my TNT2 for the D3D device as I have disabled my V2 to check that it can't be selected. The images/textures are much clearer and are comparable with the 3DFX version. Can someone let me know if this works for any card setup/combo as it may solve some of the problems people are having with the blurry D3D car textures. To go back to blur change it to: RASTER_DEVICE 0 Hope this helps, Darren
Why not have a look at your TNT's D3D settings? Try less mipmap levels, go all the way down to 0 if necessary, and higher mipmap detail for starters and you can have those sharp textures with all your games. If you can edit an .ini file you should be able to find your way to Display Properties without a problem. --- Antti Markus Peteri 15 miles. your dim light shines from so far away - Soul Asylum, Promises Broken
Yep, I certainly can get into the display properties. I have an Asus TNT2 Ultra Deluxe card - when I use the Nvidia reference drivers I can edit mip map levels and dithering but with the Asus drivers I can only 'restrict' mip mapping - which to be perfectly honest seems to make *** all difference to the sharpness of the picture in N3. Unfortunately, I need the Asus drivers for VR glasses support, TV OUT and Video in as the card comes with quite a few extras. The reference drivers don't support any of these. Anyway, the above fix works for me and I thought it might be useful for others who were having problems with blurry textures. Darren
