Hi folks, Just upgraded to a Voodoo 3 (2000), and once I ddi so, I found that my SBLive! Value simply wasn't recognized. Reinstalling the Live doesn't seem to help. Any hints? I'm using DX7, but the same occured when I was in DX6.1. sighs, David K.

This may help. When I built my system, the SBLive would fight for IRQ 10. My primary video card also wanted IRQ 10. I had to go into the bios, and assign IRQ 11 to my agp slot, and when I rebooted, all was warm and fuzzy with my system. ymmv. -- Kenny L. #14 Generic Chevy PRC Member Wall Scrapers Racing Team

Also, make sure that the sound card is NOT in the first PCI slot. (regardless of whether the V3 is AGP. If the V3 is AGP, place it in the AGP slot, leave PCI slot 1 empty and place the S/C in any other slot. If the V3 is PCI, place it in PCI slot 1 and the S/C in any other slot. HTH, Chris

I didnt have any problems with mine but a friend needed to put his SB Live card in the lowest pci slot. (furthest away from agp slot) Everything was fine after that. I hope this helps. Nevermind--gremlins in my PCI slots . . . Thanks one and all anyway, --DK
Sorry this is a bit late but I must have missed this thread earlier... Any particular reason why it shouldn't go in the first PCI slot? I had a lot of problems with my SBLive card when I first got it (constant muting of the sound) and wonder if this could have been part of the problem. I believe the conflicts occur as the 1st pci slot shares an irq with the agp slot, so if your running an agp vid card you might want to put the Live in a slot other than slot 1. -- Don Burnette Dburn in N3 and Legends > Sorry this is a bit late but I must have missed this thread earlier... > Any particular reason why it shouldn't go in the first PCI slot? > I had a lot of problems with my SBLive card when I first got it (constant > muting of the sound) and wonder if this could have been part of the problem. > Cheers > Peter Hooper > > Also, make sure that the sound card is NOT in the first PCI slot. > > (regardless of whether the V3 is AGP. > > If the V3 is AGP, place it in the AGP slot, leave PCI slot 1 empty and > place > > the S/C in any other slot. > > If the V3 is PCI, place it in PCI slot 1 and the S/C in any other slot. > > HTH, > > Chris > > > This may help. True - it can cause problems. Similarly, if you use anything involving USB then leave the last PCI slot empty if you can. -- Richard G. Ahh.. wonder if that's my problem... I have a USB mouse which got installed at about the same time I got the SBLive. Think i'll try it in slot 2 instead later on and see if there is any difference because I still get the sound turning off intermittently (damn annoying when your in the middle of a lap).
