Just bought RC2K and I'm having a few problems with it. Sound: With the rear view mirror turned on, sound is fine on incar views (bumper, bonnet, dash) but waaay too quiet on the external views. With the mirror turned off, the reverse happens. The mirror itself also only draws half the stuff it should, but I gather that's a voodoo3 bug that's being resolved. Networking: 1) Firstly it's damned annoying having to take the CD around the house to every pc on the LAN (4 of them) just to start the game. Anyone found a no CD patch yet? (Please, no flaming. I've bought the game for god's sake, it's just a pain in the arse having to quit the game on the server every time the game crashes, just to give a client the CD to restart - especially as I haven't got room for the 650Mb full install!). 2) Secondly, we've been having wierd disconnect problems. For our first few attempts, when I tried to start the server (confirm ready and start the race), one or more of the clients dropped back into windows. When we tried to restart the server, we all clicked ready, then nothing happened. Had to restart RC on the server (and sometimes reboot win98 on server) 3) Once we got a game going with 2 of us, (don't know what we changed, but it just started working), if we finished together all was well. When I finished significantly ahead of the other player, race finished on my machine, then the other player got disconnected. 4) Network play loses most of your settings. Camera settings and Overlay (HUD) settings are lost (no HUD comes up at all until you press all the F keys). Also even if you choose Manual gears at the car selection screen, it puts you in semi-automatic which is ***y annoying. 5) Network play is not even mentioned in the manual, so I can't use that for troubleshooting. Anyone know a workaround for any of these? If it helps, my system spec is: Asus K7M 128Mb PC100 RAM Voodoo3 3000 SBLive! Value PCI Network Card Win98 (non-SE) DX7 All latest drivers. Mike.
