It seems everybody is playing, downloading patches etc. I cannot find RC 2000 in New York City. Can someone tell me where to buy it on line or in a store?? Thanks,Maurizio

I just ordered my copy from www.interactcd.com I have bought other games from them in the past, and I've not had any problems from them.
Are there patches for RC2K? If so, where can I get them? I bought this game when it came out (Netherlands), downloaded the patch to make it work with my V3 but after one championship I put it aside. The feel is just TOO wrong to be enjoyable. Are there patches that improve the feel of the cars? Thanks, Johan. > It seems everybody is playing, downloading patches etc. > I cannot find RC 2000 in New York City. Can someone tell me where to buy > it on line or in a store?? > Thanks,Maurizio

I'd be interested in hearing if these patchs, particularly #4, perform well. Specifically : are those people that disliked the handling of the car in the original release now able to modify the handling to a useful degree? A good comparison would be the difference between the original and patched versions of SCGT. The little handling patch for SCGT made a real difference in the feel of that game. Does the RC20000 patch affect RC similarily? David http://www.simracingnews.com/updates/downloads/rallychampionship2000/...

Me too - www.interactcd.com. Would have been cheap too except for $(*#&$ Customs!

It is not TOO wrong. I suggest you learn a little about how rally cars handle. The physics are correct. David G Fisher

Copied from a previous post (by me!): ---------------------------------------------------------- When I first drove RC2000 it handled like crap. I can see why many people have posted messages on usenet saying the handling in RC is crap? But it isn't crap! It just takes a bit of tinkering to make it feel better. RC felt pretty dire using the default settings. But you need to change the steering sensitivity, and the lower and upper dead zone values to suit your own controller. After spending about half an hour tweaking these, I transformed the handling, and it felt pretty good to drive afterwards. The car does stop dead if you hit anything, even a straw bail, but I am now able to slide it around corners, and perform pendulum swings and handbrake turns with relative ease! It takes a bit of adjustment, and I can see why maybe people have missed these features, they are hidden away in the many menus, but its well worth making the effort. The car is now very rewarding to drive, better than RAC rally championship, and I would say better than CMR also. Going off road (say onto grass slows the car quite a bit, and hitting walls, etc doesn't do much damage unless repeated often?) so realistic it ain't, but it drives well despite this. Copied from a later post (by me): ---------------------------------------------------------------- I've d/l'd the Rally Championship patch v4 from the simracing news website, which gives a new ral.exe file, and also allows configuration of the games physics settings (much complained about by some people!) If you do not have one already, make a ral.cfg file (using notepad or similer) and save it to your rc\var directory. Using this text file (once the patch has been installed) you can specify all sorts of settings to make the cars brake longer, reduce or increase grip on various surfaces, etc, etc. Check out these sites for the patch (and when you d/l it read the patch.txt file for all the details of what can be changed): http://www.simracingnews.com/ http://www.rallychampionship.co.uk/ After some experimentation today, my ral.cfg file has the following lines.... patchstickygrass=0 patchdamages=50 patchbrakegrip=50 patchslidegrip=80 patchmaxdrawdistance=1 This turns off the sticky grass, so you do not slow down when on grass, reduces the amount of damage done by 50%, decreases braking power by 50%, (so the car takes twice the distance to stop) increases the cars sliding slightly, and reduces slightly the amount of graphics drawn in the distance (to speed up graphics). This has transformed the game for me. Before these changes it was a good game, pretty realistic (once the steering sensitivity had been sorted out) and looked great. Now, the car brakes better, steers better, slides better, and seems to fly along even quicker than before. It now feels awesome, the game Colin M Rally should have been! Get the patch, make the changes (you may want slightly different settings to me, but use mine as a guide if you like) and enjoy..... 8-) *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

After fiddling with settings for a couple of days, the only major beef I have with RC2000 is that it dumps you into Neutral every time you hit something. When I crash in any other sim, I normally start shifting down as soon as I can so I can get going again. In RC2000, that puts me in Reverse. So I back up, slam into something, boom, back into Neutral. Get into First, start going, hit something, back into Neutral. Anybody know of a way to turn this behaviour off? I chose Manual shifting so I could do the shifting. I don't want the game shifting for me!

I found after patch 4 that the game is just great. Can recommend you visit the forum at http://www.simracingnews.com also. A recent post had a link to an application that allows you to control the setup of the variables from outside the game. Just awesome the support, interest and flexibility of this game. By the way, a compliment to Kenneth Verburg at simracingnews for the most current easy to use page I have used for a long time. Good on you for keeping us so up to date. will the new .exe work with the moon and stars demo?
