Did I run over John Surtees dog?

What has John Surtees got against me? Is it because I'm in a shiny red Ferrari and he's in a Honda? That man is a menace! Everytime I race it seems that he decides to drive into my back under braking. All the other drivers seem OK but not Surtees. At the moment I hate the man! He should get back to riding motorbikes. Seriously, not having raced in GPL for long, I was wondering if the different drivers have different temperaments. Do some go for ridiculous overtaking manoeuvers and others drive more cautiously? One things for sure, my trail braking is improving no end. Cheers Phil -- http://www.youpies.co.uk

Don't worry, it's not just you. Everybody has a problem with Surtees at some point. My last one was different - he'd decided to park his car just over a flat out blind crest at the Nurburgring! I think I counted 15 spins and barrel rolls before my car stopped:-( - Michael

Surtees seems to always be right ahead of me on the grid in any F1 races. He also seems to be very slow at getting away causing me to steer ***ly to one side and always seemingly getting tangled with Bonnier! If I do get past him at the start he will no doubt punt me at the first decent braking area. Chris
I think every game has it's own Surtees. Luca Badoer and Jos Verstappen were always wrecking me in F1RS before I could figure out how to drive away from them. The only solution I see to Surtees is to get a whole lot faster... back to the track. David

I ***myself everytime he appears in my mirrors, especially approaching a bend where you need to brake.
Phil Lee 15 Feb 2000#519698
it's always the Parabolica isn't it. You'd of thought that a world champion like Surtees would know how to overtake at this corner. Cheers Phil -- http://www.youpies.co.uk

>Same with me. The man is incompetent. He can't start and he can't stop. >How he ever became world champion I'll never know. >Cheers >Phil lol!! Someday, someone will be saying the same about our current champion. don [|]-(_)-[|]
Just now at the Glen! I know he did it on purpose: I was braking for the loop and I could swear he didn't even begin braking 'till after the crest! What a dope. At least he put himself out of the race. I thought for a while that I was braking way too soon, but I know better now.

Gee, and this poor guy just had his birthday a few days ago (Feb 11th). I'd bet that if he read some of the rantings in this newsgroup, he'd be afraid to leave his house! Why do I have the feeling that someone in this newsgroup, is going to meet him in the street and flip him off??? John, for your own personal safety. Have Papy patch you in the sim. You aren't winning any new fans here. :-) F1Filter

Hi all, Man, sometimes life is really unfair! I've often thought like you do, F1Filter. Here we have a guy who survived to a well-earned and honorable retirement after thriving in one of auto racing's most deadly eras, forever to hold the title of the first man to win world championships on both two wheels and four--in short, one of the premier drivers of his era. Yet among a small number of people whom he has never even laid eyes on, his name will forever spew from their lips with a disgust usually reserved for the likes of serial killers, politicians, and Bernie Ecclestone.! : ) (Not seriously, I know . . . but still!) And why? All because some random group of electrons bearing his name is running around in our computers screwing up our best-laid plans! My heart goes out to both him (the real Surtees) and us. As for the little group of electrons named "Surtees": may he blow his engine to smithereens every time the green flag falls! Take care (and watch out for that white whale in your mirrors!) Michael G. Lowery

Well ever since the owner of the shiny red cars sacked John in favour of his countryman Bandini, Mr Surtees has been a bit upset....... MS
Phil Lee 16 Feb 2000#519923
Me too! I've adopted a new strategy when he comes up behind me. Ilet him past, follow him and hope that he takes out other drivers in front of me. Cheers Phil -- http://www.youpies.co.uk

I have the same feelings towards Surtees in GPL as I did for Mario Andretti in ICR...unprintable. <g> Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Own Grand Prix Legends? Both Mr. Surtees and Mr. Rindt are very aggressive in GPL. However, they can be slipped a mickey simply by editing their behaviour in driver.ini. I edited John so heavily that he'd go to sleep on the starting grid!! :-) -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- > >What has John Surtees got against me?
