Gpl cars acceleration

12 posts by 10 people · 25 Feb 2000 - 27 Feb 2000

i had nothing to do so i thought let's see how fast those 67 F1 cars could accelerate :) the results : ( 0.2 :) 0 - 100 km/h 1. Lotus : 3.3 sec 2. Ferrari : 3.6 sec -. Eagle : 3.6 sec -. Honda : 3.6 sec 0 - 200 km/h 1. Lotus : 7.4 sec 2. Eagle : 7.5 sec 3. Honda : 7.7 sec 4. Ferrari : 7.9 sec 0 - 280 km/h 1. Eagle : 15.2 sec 2. Lotus : 15.5 sec 3. Honda : 16.1 sec 4. Ferrari : 16.2 sec Something else,: i was just driving the nurburgring with no succes : i crashed every lap :( Now i now why : 57% of all corners in GPL are in the nurburgring so it's easier to know all the corners from the 10 other tracks than those of the nurburgring alone :)

This is interesting. From having driven the Honda and the Ferrari, I always would have said the Ferrari was a lot more sprightly in the mid range... Regardless, even assuming you ran exactly the same gear ratios on each car, getting the power down smoothly and quickly with these cars consistently is one of the things that makes GPL a challenge. How do you ensure that the test has been done fairly, or in other words, that these are the true values for acceleration, with no variation due to human error or inconsistency?

I would say that the Logitech Formula Force is the best wheel. Now my question is.... how many RAS posts completely misunderstand the sarcasm and rhetorical questions found in many of the posts?
snippage Jarno, this is great! This group needed a statistician -- especially one with a sense of humor! Run this number for me, will you? What percentage of RMAS posts include the question "which steering wheel should I get?"? ;-) Kurt
Actually, the thought of GPL statistics got me thinking. I wish GPL collected by track the number of practice and race laps run. Those would be some pretty impressive numbers for some of us! Kurt (Enjoying a delightful India Pale Ale at the moment, and hoping you're all having as jolly a Friday night as I'm having.)

This is something I've noticed too. After over a year of driving GPL. I find myself saying things like, gee that turn was just like a turn at the 'Ring. Now if I could just remember which turn at the 'Ring I'd be a 'Ring Master. :) -- Richard "ZZ" Busch Official member: Screamers Racing League Sim Racing Mag Honda Challenge NASROC ---------------- Busch Motorsports: Remember racecar is racecar spelled backward ----------------- Busch Carpentry: Plans?, Oh, you mean that napkin sketch? I feel that the Honda is just like driving my real-life Acura Integra! :) Good power for a tiny little engine. But absolutely no low-end power.

But absolutely no low-end > power. Good grief! You must be talking about your NSX compared to the F3, then. My Cobra falls somewhere between an F2 and F3 in acceleration and top-end. For handling, I'm thankful that Ford's default setup is moderate understeer. An F3 feels very much like a Mitsubishi Eclipse with mild engine mods. Michael.
