Hi, so, first of all congrats to Stefano for the most incredible piece of coding by a single guy i've ever seen, and thanks for making it all available for free on the net. Now for my review. I think he got the feel quite right, although it is certainly not "the newGPL" as someone said in an earlier post. There's still _something_ missing, most notably the sensation of speed in my opinion. In terms of cars i like the formula cars best. The saloon cars are all a bit *can't find the right adjective here*.Once someone here called 'em "dull" and that's probably the closest description i can give. Another thing I'd love to see is a gear display somewhere in those cars as well. Not that small one in the lower left corner of the screen. Too busy to look there.:-) But since it's like all programs a work in progress thing, i'm sure great things lie ahead. So, where are the (modern) F1 and the GPL era F1 cars? *waiting impatiently* So, the bottom line is: A great program that needs some finishing touches. Now looking at it this way, it's a great idea to use the whole internet community as beta testers... :-) ok, gotta get back to Falkenberg now for some Formula renault laps... bye Cris

F12k2 - might get 45 - 50fps on your own on the track. Netkar will a) look better and b) hit 60-80fps. Shows how poor the engine is for the F1X series doug
As much as I would love to test Netkar - I just can't... I keep getting some wierd errors when selection trackday or multi. Somthing about "Extrenal exception EEFFACE" and "Access violations at adress 00E42B58 in module trackday.dll. Read address 0000001C." The track/car-list comes up but it does not list any cars or tracks... I've downloaded both 0.96 and 0.99 and the same thing happens with both... I've even tried to d/l from multiple sites... Btw, are there no official download-site for this thing? And no forum? -- ed_

There is an official forum on the drivingitalia.net site -- there is an Italian forum and an english forum, but there's not much traffic on the english site, so unless you speak Italian, you might be better off hanging out at the RaceSim Central netKar forum. As for your "EEFFACE" error, I've had this happen before myself -- a couple of times, in fact, but it only happens when I've tried to install an add-on track and buggered the installation. It seems that netKar is VERY sensitive to the file structure, so I highly recommend that you try installing just the game itself and get it running before you try to install any tracks or skins. Here's a thread on the RSC forum addressing your specific problem, in fact: http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96521&highlight=EEFFACE And another: http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90779&highlight=EEFFACE Finally, you'll want to check out THIS thread for all you need to enjoy netKar at its best: http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61482 Hope this helps! -- JB

...Speed sensation comes when you go fast enough... :) .
> Nope - I mean F12002 Spa is the only track that I'm aware of that is being converted from F1 2002. Frame rate is roughly the same in both games on my PC (as least with one car on track) 80-100fps
I downloaded Lime Rock today (great conversion), but it seems that I can go flat out in the F3000 except for turn two. I wonder if this is realistic, just lifting off the throttle and applying steering lock, hardly any braking required? Or is this a question of "tuning" the setup? Also, is there a way to display frame rates in netkar while driving or is FRAPS required? I had Brands Hatch installed and Netkar didnt like > that for some reason... Netkar seems to be very picky about the directory names and structure. I had the same problem when installing Suzuka... the zip file was named something like "Suzuka_099_beta", so I unzipped it to a folder with the same name, and netkar kept crashing. Then I took a look at some text file in the Suzuka directory and noticed that the track's name was defined as "Suzuka", so I renamed the directory, and netkar worked again.

FOV can be adjusted in netkar by pressing F7 and F8 while driving...
