The main problem with the ISI game is that all the important options are
hidden, so here I'll try to put all the ones i can remember. If you have
different/better tips please add them.
Everything is just based on my settings for the game.
I'll start with controls:
I have all the axes set to 50% sensitivity and 0% dead zone.
Make sure you turn off speed sensitivity in the digital controller rates
screen. Set it to 0%.
I use a button on my wheel for clutch and have it set to 10% sensitivity. (I
cant decide what is best)
The rest is in the /Save/yourname/yourname.PLR file
Look at the red bars in the control screen that show your gas and brake. If
either one doesnt rise until you press that pedal down halfway, then you
need to adjust the centering value since it gets confused with the dual axis
pedals.
Near the bottom of the PLR:
Axis [00, 00] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 X
Axis [00, 00] Sensitivity="0.50472"
Axis [00, 00] Center="0.50000" // 0.0=min, 0.5=center, 1.0=max (use to
correct centering or split-axis issues)
Find the one that is the axis that is not getting full travel, and change
the Center value to either 1 or 0. For me, i set the Y axis (gas pedal) to
1.
I think thats it for the controls, now the other stuff
No AI Control="1" This way you can still drive after finishing a race
Half Rate="0" full physics
Tire Sampling="1" Better handling over curbs
Telemetry In Race="0" Frees up some CPU during races
Traction Control="3.00000" louder tc
Self In Rearview="1" // Show rear wing and rear wheels in rearview
Moving Steering Wheel="0" For some reason(no one knows why) it seems this
give more responsive controls
LCD Display Modes="5" this gets rid of the driver aids screen and adds
engine and brake temps
Crash Recovery="0" // Artificially keep cars on track or flip cars upright
Mimic Steering="0" Stops your wheel from moving when watching other cars
FFB rumble strip pull factor= Reduce this number to your taste, so the
curbs dont suck you in like a black hole
Thats all i can find for now.
I like the advanced head physics. At first I thought it would be a
detriment but once I got used to it I think it adds to the immersion. Makes
ya feel like youre really movin.
Heres the settings I use.
Glance Rate="7.00000" // Rate to follow controller for glancing
Look Up/Down Angle="0.75000" // Angle to look up/down (pitch) w/ controller
in radians (= degrees / 57)
Leanahead Angle="0.00000" // Angle to lean head (roll) w/ steering in
radians (= degrees / 57)
Look Roll Angle="0.75000" // Angle to lean head (roll) w/ controller in
radians (= degrees / 57)
Glance Angle="0.60000" // Angle to look left/right (yaw) w/ controller in
radians (= degrees / 57)
Lookahead Angle="0.20000" // Angle to lookahead (yaw) w/ steering in radians
(= degrees / 57)
Head Physics="2.00000" // Fraction of head physics movement applied to
cockpit view (position AND rotation)
Head Rotation="2.00000" // Additional head physics multiplier affecting
rotation only

"internal_skid_road_dry.wav" in the audio\vehicle\ folder with Windows
Sound Recorder, and turning up the volume.
Or you can copy the tyre squeal sound from GTR2002, as I did.
Either way works a treat
Here's a few more that I like:
Track Load Commentary="0" // Whether or not the commentator should talk
during track loading
Display Icons="2" // Icons displayed if HUD is off: 0 = none, 1 = flags
only, 2 = all
Play Movies="0" // Turns off trackside movies, saves some bandwidth (also
available in menu)
Locked Pit Cam="0" // so you can watch other cars from the pits

Trackside movies? What are those?

The jumbotrons around the track
Which frequently are showing footage from some track other than the one you
are on. Very annoying, so I turn them off.

Found another good one in the [ Controls ] section:
Options Num Controls="44" // Number of configurable controls displayed in
options
Changing this to 44 shows all of the controls available in the player file,
with the exception of 1st thru 7th gear, which it skips over no matter what
you set the number to. I didn't try all of them because I suspect most are
there for NASCAR or for mods and not implemented in F1C, but that did add
reverse gear to the controls menu, which is useful for some of us. <cough>
Would be pretty funny if the horn and the hand brake, etc. worked too.

with. My brake needs adjusting. It's on Controller #1, Axis RZ. When I just
start to put pressure on it, the red bar immediately jumps to about 25%. It
then moves to the top gradually. aturally, at this setting when just touching
the brake, I get a quick lock-up.
So, exactly how do I find which statement that starts with "Axis" is the one to
edit, and what vallues would you suggest? (I figure it should be something like
0.25=min, 0.67=center, 1.0=max).
Thanks!

I think they arent labeled in f1-2002, so here is the f1c one, just match up
the number of the axis with its label from f1c. As to what value to use,
just try trial and error i guess... it might be backwards from what you
figured though, but im not sure
Axis [00, 00] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 X
Axis [00, 00] Sensitivity="0.50472"
Axis [00, 00] Center="0.50000" // 0.0=min, 0.5=center, 1.0=max (use to
correct centering or split-axis issues)
Axis [00, 01] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 Y
Axis [00, 01] Sensitivity="0.50000"
Axis [00, 01] Center="1.00000"
Axis [00, 02] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 Z
Axis [00, 02] Sensitivity="0.50000"
Axis [00, 02] Center="0.50000"
Axis [00, 03] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 RX
Axis [00, 03] Sensitivity="0.50000"
Axis [00, 03] Center="0.50000"
Axis [00, 04] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 RY
Axis [00, 04] Sensitivity="0.50000"
Axis [00, 04] Center="0.50000"
Axis [00, 05] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 RZ
Axis [00, 05] Sensitivity="0.50000"
Axis [00, 05] Center="1.00000"
Axis [00, 06] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 S0
Axis [00, 06] Sensitivity="0.50000"
Axis [00, 06] Center="0.50000"
Axis [00, 07] Dead Zone="0.00000" // Controller 1 S1

Axis [00, 07] Center="0.50000"
