To make a long story short:
Recently i joined a league RSR PRO CUP http://www.teamrsr.com/
I was dropped after 2 races (12th and 7th finishes) with no incidents
(my current LPI is 90+)
When asking [email hidden] The league admin, why i was
dropped 3 times I got no response. My wife suggested it was because
my car had "Jesus Saves" as the sponsor. I doubted this, but kept an open
mind, when i continued to ask for the reason why i was dropped, and i asked
if it was because I had "Jesus" on my car these are the responses I got:
"What do you want Tarrant, your money back? Get a grip."
"Ok, here's my opinion........follow closely now. GOODBYE TARRANT."
It would seem that "Jesus" is not allowed in the RSR PRO CUP.
It shouldn't take a Christian to be upset about this, RSR feels
they can crap on the constitution apparently.
I would ask that you support me in encouraging TeamRSR in stating why
I was dropped from this league if not for having "Jesus" on my car.
All i wanted was an explanation.
They use the server of team FLM, one of the most respected teams online.
I AM SENDING FLM A COPY OF THIS FOR THEIR EVALUATION
I DO NOT HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE. If u havnt been to their site
I would reccommend u do !

Flame warDriver claims he was dropped from a league for religion
Paul Yuknis said he had been dropped from the RSR Pro Cup NR2003 league without explanation and suspected his Christian-themed car paint was the reason, framing it as a constitutional issue. Most replied that a private league can choose its members and that the First Amendment restricts only government, though some agreed he deserved an explanation. The long thread became hostile and drifted into religion jokes.

What does the constitution have to do with it? It's a private league run on a
private(for all intents and purposes) server. They can do whatever they want,
for whatever REASON they want...
Sorry, but you're crying 'foul' for the wrong reasons. I also tend to think
there's more to this than you're sharing. The average person who was offended
by your 'sponsor' would have just asked you to remove it first. The fact that
they ignored you, then gave a cryptic answer sounds a bit fishy.

First, let's review the rules, and reveal the reasons for being
kicked out (the reasons below cite the RSR rule number):
1) Solo spinning a 2nd time and not exiting the race
3) Flaming at any time
9) Continually causing problems
*) Unspoken rule - somehow you managed to piss off one or more of the
admins
So which of these things did you do?
-----------
I doubt seriously if their reason for booting you out is what you
have painted on your car, since they're apparantly not as demanding
as RASCAR is (since they didn't even mention it in their rules).
-----------
Exactly how are they "crapping on the Constitution"? They're not
preventing you from bearing arms, speaking freely, publicly
assembling, and this most certainly isn't a church and state issue.
-----------
IMHO, you are entitled to an explanation if you HONESTLY don't know
why you were expelled. but at the same time, the league admins don't
have to say why.

Seek counselling Paul, you have some serious mental problems...
How about taking a loooong hard think ? Maybe the fact that you spew this
drivel in RAS as soon as you feel martyrdom coming, is a clue to why they
did not want you in their league ?? oh and go somewhere else with this
crusade, you are a very sad person IMHO.

At the very least, it should not have been brought up publicly unless
someone asked for an opinion about the league. At that point, you
would have been justified in expressing your feelings. If they don't
want to tell you why they kicked you out, that's their choice, and
you should probably just leave it at that.
-----------
I personally don't like having religion of any kind thrust in my face
at any time, but as long as your car doesn't say "Jesus Saves (but
non-Christians suck)", there's nothing wrong with having it on your
car short of realistic considerations pertaining to paint schemes.
You're not likely to see that phrase on a stockcar (despite the
apparent deeply held religious beliefs of most stockcar drivers)
because Jesus may save, but the sponsor pays out the big bucks, so
the sponsor gets his name on the hood and the quarterpanels.
We have a guy in RASCAR (#85 car I think) with some sort of religious
slogan on the decklid, and unless he screws up or otherwise pisses
off one of the admins, we're not gonna kick him out. :)

I'm not one (I really don't see the point in any specific religious
belief system, but that's a subject for another thread in
alt.religion.nonbelievers), and while the title is kinda weird, I
think the thread has an acceptably low level of bullcrap (so far).
:)
It is the right for freedom of expression, a concern to all
americans, hence the name of the thread. NOT just
a Christian issue.
It doesnt matter what religion u are, YOU have the right to
express it. and so don't I.
"Right to free speech" is in the constitution.
If they didn't allow me in because i was black, people would freak.
but discriminating against a christian is O.K. ?
I tried several times to get a response in private email
with no luck, that is why I went public. As I have defended
OUR constitution for 23 years serving in the military I
take great offense to such a lame attitude towards it.

Reading this thread just ticks me off. I am going to "Jump to Conclusions" and
"Make an Assumption."
It sounds to me, from the tenor of your original post, that you are part and
parcel of the "I Am Not Responsible For My Own Actions" crowd.
It sounds as if you were kicked out for a valid reason, but due to your
inability to accept responsibility for your lack of talent to compete, you
decided it would be far easier to say it had to do with religion.
This absolves you of having to say you screwed up and or admitting that you
couldn't cut it. You are able to justify this by screaming long and loud in a
newsgroup like this.
Let me tell you something. Saying it loudly and with conviction don't make it
so.
My apologies to the newsgroup, as I really don't have any inside info or facts

He placed 7th and 12th in the races. I didn't notice if it was the
lead lap (I went to the web page to see), but those are respectable
showings, IMHO. And his 90+ LPI ain't too shabby either. My LPI is
only 56...

Well, I don't think he should have brought it here, but beyond that,
and assuming that he didn't break any of the rules that promised
expulsion from the league if broken, you have to wonder why he was
kicked out. If it was because of the paint scheme and he was not
provided with a chance to change the paint scheme in order to comply
with their as yet unspecified painting rules, that was just plain
wrong, IMHO.

John, in reality, I couldn't agree more. It's just the strident tenor of the
post in which he presented the case that made my gut twitch that there is some
"other" as yet undefined reason for his expulsion. It made me feel as if he
was told, but doesn't believe the reasoning.
Of course I expected to have to stand here all day with my fingers on the "Pull

The idea that we base our beliefs on an individual that lived 2000 years ago
is beyond me.. Hell they thought the world was flat, how can you put so
much faith in a people that were so completely ignorant about so many

they are witches, yea, Ill follow the church... Or should I say "Safe-House"

No league rules were broken, no wrecks, no explanation.
No I would not change my car.
Alls i want is an explanation. if it was because of my
car than they could at least have to guts to say so.
Here is the incident report from the race, as u see I was a victim of
warp, and caused no wrecks. this is from the league admin:
You see after all those other incidents, it was i that was removed from
the roster with no explanation. all the other guys that caused wrecks
were kept "one removal was me".
So u see, by the leagues own admission i didnt break any rules
or cause any wrecks. "1 driver removed from the roster" was me.
when asked if it was because of having "Jesus" on my car, i got no response.
So infer what u will...
Lap 2: C_Adkins (solo spin/warp?) cannot determine from replay
Lap 14: CC81(RSR) solo spin, possibly warp related
Lap 19: J_Wilcko_FLM solo spin
Lap 24: *KBtitan24* solo spin
lap 29: Racemasta bud & =TFO=TJsRacin get together coming out of turn, did
not give each other enough room (racing deal)
Lap 44: RascalRacing gets into the back of TFO Dok, but TFO Dok had slowed
to keep from spinning
Lap 53: Bobo9 solo spin (rear spoiler damage)
Lap 66: 4Boltmain warps for a few seconds then reappears in front of Tarrant
and is spun
Lap 114: LuckyLarry_FLM loses control (very close to a solo spin) and
bounces of the inside wall over to the outside wall and causes an incident
with Aerojack_RSR
Drivers that came to the race unprepared and solo spun or were unstable
throughout the race, are on notice that Las Vegas will be your last race if
you don't put some practice time in. We have drivers here that spend hours
on their setups. If you have not put time into a fully tested setup or do
not have time in your schedule to do so, then please find another league to
race in.
1 driver removed from the roster and 2 drivers that chatted during the race
received 0 points for this race.
Interesting...I went to the site to see if they had their own forum, which
they do, and was then going to ask why this would be posted here instead of
there.
Well he did post the question there as to why he was dropped. The league
admin made numerous replies, not one of which was any sort of explanation.
All of them pretty smart a$$ comments, the last one being:
"Oh, think of all the sleep I'm going to lose over that. Oh well, I'm off to
go paint my new fascist/totalitarian paint scheme with the swastika on the
hood."
At least as far as I'm concerned, I think this post has had its desired
effect. I would sure think twice about applying for membership in that
league.

that way), but it would be MY right. A *private* club(league) can make
whatever rules for membership that they desire. You seem to be missing that
very obvious point. I *still* think there's more to the story than you're
telling. You never addressed that...

I'll let you know why I do.

Besides your wifes suggestion, why is it you seem so certain that your
affiliation with Big J. was the reason you got booted ????
Have you considered that the way you act here annoy a lot of people, you
come across as a pretty obsessive person and that might also be the case in
the league you were booted from.. not the paintjob, but your personality was
the reason ?

To be honest, it wouldnt be worth the trouble to me. Any league that has

Christians do it all the time. There's a small private college in
Spokane Washington, I can't remember the name (it's NOT Gonzaga, that
much I know.) Anyways, whenever they ran employment advertisements in
the Spokesman-Review, there was always a line in the ad that said
applicants had to have a personal relationship with god and jesus to be
considered. That qualifies as discrimination based on religion in my
book.

Yes, I am from the US. Without knowing specifically what you are
referring too, I think such matters have been covered under the due
process/equal protection clauses of the 14th amendment. The 1st just
isn't valid here. I disagree on that assertion.

I can actually understand that part, even though I'm not a Christian,
and I also think Jesus was a pretty swell dude if not some sort of
supernatural entity. I've always thought that the concept of "God"
was more of a hippie-esque universality and in that sense some guy
wandering around telling people to be nice to each other and to accept
each other's faults was probably a part of "God" more than most
people. Anyway getting off topic here...
The part that baffles me is literally interpreting folklore passed via
word of mouth among wandering shepherds several millenia ago. Even
more baffling is the way some parts are interpreted metaphorically,
others are taken literally, and others are simply ignored, all 3 often
in the context of the same set of passages (Genesis and Leviticus
being the 2 biggest offenders). If there were any consistency at all
in interpretation (I mean among a single sect, not between different
denominations) I'd find the whole thing more respectable.
The tax-exempt status of religion in the US gets my goat more than
anything but that's more for another rant.
Finally, my feelings on that guy being expelled from the league really
depends on how consistently rules are applied. If he was removed for
his paint scheme in the same spirit that keeps people from splashing
swastikas or "Satan rocks!" all over their car, I don't really have a
problem with it. Personally, if I were a league admin I'd let people
use whatever they wanted regardless of how offensive, but I can
understand people not feeling the same way.

I grew up in church, and though I know many are
sincere in their beliefs, there are also a great many full of sheeat
hypocrites who just can't seem to quit spouting religious nonsense.
Take my job for example. Full of churchgoers who clutter the breakroom up
with tracts, add to the noise pollution with their incessant religious
debates, and more often than not are some of the laziest people I know. This
is acceptable to the management of my company. While I certainly believe in
God, I also realize the majority of these people are idiots. And many are
vicious backstabbers.
Now, one thing I feel strongly about is marijuana legalization. In the past
I have enjoyed a taste of it, and if the opportunity presented itself right
now, I would happily partake. Were I to begin sharing my strong opinions for
legalization, not to mention my fondness for marijuana at work, however, I
am sure I would have to endure the sort of alienation and persecution many
believers only dream of. Hell, I would probably be on the list of people
they want to get rid of, in spite of my outstanding work performance. Not
only that, but people who feel differently about pot would soon get annoyed
having to listen to me. So, I keep my opinions to myself.
If you were sharing your convictions with your league, I do hope you weren't
overly zealous about it. Nothing wrong with it mind you, but if you carry on
about it all the time, you will annoy the hell out of people.
And if it makes you feel any better, RASCAR paint regulations prohibit me
from having a big pot leaf on the hood of my car. And naked women, which
also arouse strong feelings deep within me.
Anyhoo, that's my opinion.

You're assuming facts that are not in evidence. The guys who wrecked may have
been Christian as well. Since you don't *know*, you can't assume you were
thrown out just because you're a Christian...

And it's THEIR free speech to deny you access. By insisting on claiming
discrimination, and stating that you wouldn't change your car's paint job, if
you were in this league you would be in essence *forcing* them to read your
'message'. Don't they have a right to be free of your religious views? Maybe
they don't WANT "Jesus Saves"(or whatever it was) in their face all the time...

Actually no, "under God" was added by Eisenhouer in the 50's. Before
that, there was no mention of God in the pledge.

I feel a lot better about living in Pennsylvania now, even with our
archaic liquor laws and shops that close at noon on Sunday. Then
again this state was founded by those fleeing religious persecution in
England and was largely settled by Germans fleeing the same.
Here are some nice quotes for you in return:
"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the
Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the
Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of...Each of those
churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I
disbelieve them all." -- Thomas Paine
"The Christian priesthood, finding the doctrines of Christ levelled to
every understanding and too plain to need explanation, saw, in the
mysticisms of Plato, materials with which they might build up an
artificial system which might, from its indistinctness, admit
everlasting controversy, give employment for their order, and
introduce it to profit, power, and pre-eminence. The doctrines which
flowed from the lips of Jesus himself are within the comprehension of
a child; but thousands of volumes have not yet explained the
Platonisms engrafted on them: and for this obvious reason that
nonsense can never be explained." -- Thomas Jefferson
"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of
Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in
all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility
in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." --
James Madison
"That Jesus Christ was not God is evidence from his own words." --
Ethan Allen
"As to Jesus of Nazareth, my Opinion of whom you particularly desire,
I think the System of Morals and his Religion...has received various
corrupting Changes, and I have, with most of the present dissenters in
England, some doubts as to his Divinity; tho' it is a question I do
not dogmatize upon, having never studied it, and think it needless to
busy myself with it now, when I expect soon an opportunity of knowing
the Truth with less trouble." -- Benjamin Franklin
Most of the founding fathers were atheists, agnostics, and gnostics.
This is pretty well documented. George Washington (who,
coincidentally, asked to not have clergy near his deathbed, fought for
freedom from religious intolerance and persecution, and nominated a
Universalist to an Army chaplain position) would be appalled by the
governmental crusades for Judeo-Christianity that have occurred for
the past 50 years.

Your constitution gives you the right to set up your own server and create a
web page with your beliefs for everyone to read. Your constitution also
gives you the right to create your own NR2003 server and provide a forum for
whatever fancy paint schemes you might like to admit. What your
constitution does not guarantee is that a privately owned newspaper, web
server, radio station, television station etc. has to provide a forum for
your beliefs and views.
I personally have nothing against your views, but as a Canadian it always
amazes me that so many Americans don't understand their own constitution.

themselves of you. And when you asked about religion, thats why you got a
smartass remark, because it was SO far away from the truth.
Free speech is not a valid point here. When people get together in private
clubs, they can make rules to hangout with whomever they choose. Those rules
CAN include race, religion, gender, talent, intelligence (MENSA), body type
(LITTLE PEOPLE OF AMERICA - 4'10 OR LESS) and other even more bizarre and
ridiculous rules. It IS legal - Look at Augusta National, just to name one.
By the same token they can rid themselves of anyone for any reason also.
Whether that person is an outspoken religious fanatic who blames his problems
on his love of religion or that person is just plain annoying, with or without
the religion. It's their RIGHT!
As the league moderater said - "Get a grip!" Let it go.

Bus systems are owned by either city or county govt & therefore bound by
such rules. OTOH, can a taxi pass you by because of how he perceives
you? You bet. And it's *STILL* not First Amendment rights you are
speaking about with either the busses or a company hiring a woman. It's

A business is not a private organization. I don't have time right now,
but just off the top of my head... Has the court ever ordered the KKK

After a brief tour of Iraq, Australia, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Bahrain,
Kuwait, Thailand, etc. I am back in Florida.
Mitch the point isnt religion, it's the freedom to express it. Big
difference
between Bible thumping and putting "Jesus" on your car.
I'm not trying to push my beliefs, just wanted to have Jesus on my car.
I don't think thats being preachy.

You're a pro-life, bible bashing, right wing nutter? Where's NRA 4
EVA? ;-)
Seriously, I look after the cars in our league. I'm pretty relaxed
(check out our #81). In the name of tongue-in-cheek humour I would
allow many of the above. In the name of tolerance I would allow Jesus
Saves, but if you had "KILL BABIES: PRO ABORTION" or "SUPPORT BIN
LADEN ......... BUY DOPE !" I'd be very close to saying feck off and
don't come back. The other admins being a bit more level headed might
merely insist on a paint-job change and give me a kick up the arse,
but if it were solely my decision, you'd be outta there.
If you push the wrong buttons, people will go ape-shit. Problem is
you don't know what those buttons are until they're pushed. I guess
"Jesus Saves" pushed them for your league's authority.

Mark

GUILTY, although i don't "Bible bash" Relationships
between people and God, are just that. Again, this
isnt a religion issue, it's a freedom of expression issue.
I don't slam athiest for being athiest, I just want the same courtesy
in return.

Hello, nice to see you all again.
Now, as the more perceptive of you have probably realised by now, this
is Hell, and I am the Devil. Good evening. You can call me Toby, if you
like - we try and keep things informal here, as well as infernal. That's
just a little joke.
Now, you're all here for eternity, which I hardly need tell you is a sod
of a long time, so you get to know everyone pretty well by the end, but
for now I'm going to have to split you up into groups.
Are there any questions? Yes?
Um, no, I'm afraid we don't have any toilets... if you'd read your Bible
you would have seen that it was damnation without relief. So, if you
didn't go before you came then I'm afraid you're not going to enjoy
yourself very much... but then, I believe that's the idea.
Right, let's split you up then.
Can you all hear me still?
CAN YOU HEAR ME AT THE BACK?
All right, off we go...
Murderers, over here. Looters and pillagers - over there please, thieves
if you could join them, and bank managers...
Fornicators, if you could step forward - my God there are a lot of you.
Could I split you up into adulterers and the rest? Adulterers if you
could just form a line in front of that small guillotine there.
Okay...
Americans, are you here? Look, I'm sorry about this, apparently God had
some fracas with your founding fathers and damned the entire race into
perpetuity. He sends particular condolences to the Mormons who He
realises put in a lot of work. That's the way the wafer crumbles. The
Iranians, I'm afraid, can't be with us - someone's been holding them in
purgatory for about nine months.
Sodomites, over there against the wall.
Atheists! Atheists? Over here please. You must be feeling a right bunch
of charlies.
Okay, and Christians! Christians? Ah yes, I'm sorry, I'm afraid the Jews
were right.
Okay, Moonies, maniacs, marmite eaters, male models, masochists, mass
murderers and masseurs, if you could take a pew at the back - with the
Methodists that is.
Now, you're the lot who used to kill whales, is that right? Ah, yes, I
must remember - I've got some strips to tear off you bastards later.
Everyone who saw Monty Python's "Life of Brian" - I'm afraid He can't
take a joke after all.
Alright now, one final thing. We're trying to implement some kind of
exchange scheme with the Lord God Almighty, or Cliff as we know him.
Some of you will travel up and have a decade in heaven and we're having
some angels down here. Now, I hardly need tell you that in heaven you
will be expected to behave in an exemplary manner, so I hope you will do
the exact opposite - tear off their wings, use their haloes for frisbee
practice, that sort of thing.
Well, I have to go now, unfortunately, but Beelzebub here will show you
the ropes ... and the chains, and electrodes.
I'd just like to leave you with a favorite joke of mine, if I may. Quite
apt to the circumstances, I think. It goes something like this:
Knock, knock!
Who's there?
Death.
Death wh...!
Beers and cheers

I think this is one of those repeated posts,...but Eldred is
right...they can do just about anything they want...but the ADULT thing to
do would be to give you a clear reason. Of course YOU can also do just
about anything you want, even so far as to create websites that criticize
the management of said league..but that's not the Christian way is it?
off topic...
Ya know we see all this anger between Muslims and...well just about
everyone else...but I always remember that classic religious movie
Romancing the STone II(the Jewel of the Nile) Those Sufi Muslims seemed to
be pretty dang nice fellows...I'd join that sect but I cain't juggle.
(how did I get on this topic?: The line I ended the first part with...the
Christian way...reminded me of the line from the move.."Thats not the Sufi
way...")
whew...the mind wanders doesn't it?
