When does the "Auto" adjustment occur? It starts at 70% and then presumably adjusts (separately for each track I hope!!!), but when does the sim have enough information to adjust it? Can it adjust during a race weekend? For example, you go into qualifying at 75% and then do an amazing qualifying lap...will it then bump it up to 95% for the race? It adjusts after the completion of a race. Its a little slow coming up as well so you will need to run a few races at each track to get it close. I'm not really sure what it uses, but I think its more than margin of victory. I saw a post were a guy claimed to lap the field at Michigan and it only went up to 80%. My first race I lapped 1 car and it jumped to 86%. Then I ran another race and won by 5.5 seconds and it went to 88%. MadDAWG

Lapped the field, at Michigan; next race started at 81% Won that from last place (didn't qualify on purpose) went to 84%. I think it takes a look at lots of things but I get the idea that avg. speed has a lot to do with it. ie. if you lap the field at some low percentage (say 70%) then you won't get as big an increase in the next race as coming 2nd against 95% AI. It might take qualifying into as well. If you compare my firs two races to yours it looks a little odd, and the qualifying is the big difference Mine 1st race took pole won race by about 30 seconds over 2nd. percent adjusted to 86% 2nd race took pole won race by 6 seconds over 2nd. Percent adjusted to 88% Yours 1st race took pole and won race by at least 40 seconds since you lapped the field. percent adjusted to 81% 2nd race started last and won . percent adjusted to 84% Looking at the results your have done better than I have so I would think that your percents should be higher, but they are not. The only major difference is the fact you started at the back of the first race. MadDAWG
Sounds a bit interesting. Nice to have as an option, but I imagine that I will just do my usual and set it to 100% at every track and hope this time Papy somehow fixed the age-old problem of the AI being much smarter at some tracks than others. Or being able to stick their cars in a corner, while if I try to go through at the same speed they are, I'm in the wall (or bushes)... John DiFool -- ============================================ Reach heaven far too high ============================================
From what I have seen at Michigan, that is still there :) Marc "John DiFool" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Marc Collins wrote: > > > Sounds a bit interesting. Or the main issue with the old AI, which these 2 tracks won't show, being their over-aggressive nature on the short tracks when looking for an opening and the inability to drive any other line through a corner, to such an extent that they would rather smash you in the rear than get off their driving line. One issue that there definitely was with Talladega was the AI pulling out coming out of turn 4, but either too early or too sharply, so that they actually slowed down, causing all other drivers behind to do the same. If your were 4 or 5 cars back, the driver in front could suddenly slow down by as much as 15 - 20 mph, giving you very little time to react.
