Has anyone noticed that when you hit the brakes the cars (any one of them)
just go straight?
Is it just me or is this phys model of this game confgured to understeer
horribly whenever you brake? Is that realistic? I'm fine with it if it is...
If it isn't (realistic) did anyone find out if it's possible to tweak some
config file or something to change the balance of breaking/handling or
somethin?
thanx

I'm not sure if it's realistic, but I have the same problem in Rally Trophy.
IIRC, RSC has a brake bias setting. Does altering that make any difference?
The brakes in Rally Trophy are terribly sensative. You really have to
feather the brakes. If you apply about 20%, you lock up all 4 wheels and
you're just going to slide straight. So you have to do your braking within
that 20% it seems.

You brought up good points:
1 - I am using a joystick... and I am using a button to brake. So I am
probably applying 100% every time I hit the brakes. No wonder I am sliding
... doh. Apparently in this game braking is modeled to be a lot more ...
"effective" than in Hot Pursuit 2 :-P
2 - I didn't play with brake bias. I am always wary when I have to play with
the car settings. It just so happens that every time I tweak the car
settings in a racing game, my cars become un-drivable. :) But I'll give that
a try. Maybe tightening up the rear breaks (so that I have more braking
power in the back wheels and less braking on the front wheels) should give
me more rear-swing and more oversteering (which usually I can handle a lot
better than understeering).
Thanks for the reply guys... :)

nearly undrivable. If you brake lightly they are still very
controllable. If OTOH you are trying to get the car sideways use the
handbrake instead. Seems like we have had a number of rally drivers in
here comment that the fast way to slow down on dirt is to get the car
sideways, and that seems to work in this game. Get it sideways by doing
a scando or using the handbrake, then apply moderate throttle pressure
and point the front wheels where you want to go. Most of the cars
balance very well once you get the feel for it.

actually on the pc it might work different.
I just changed the break balance and my performance increased considerably.
Before I couldn't get past the first series of races in career. After
changin the break balance I pretty much blasted past all opponents.
Maybe on the Xbox physiscs work different...

Could just be having the brake
bias rearward made the car twitchy enough to be difficult to control
with the Xbox gamepad, but that with a wheel it is still tolerable.
Also I tried it on a part gravel, part tarmac rallycross course, it may
have a more favorable effect on other surfaces.
