F1 2002 ctd's

Hi all, I'm having trouble with F12002. When i click on the race button to go to the track, it starts to load and then crashes to desktop about half way through the load bar at the top of the screen. system : AMD Athlon , GF3 ti500, 512 ram, SBlive plat, any help would be great BillK.

Good Luck...I have had this same problem with 2000, and 2001 and the mods..and eventually it wouldn't work at at...I never did find a way to fix it or did any of the help I got here and elswhere solve the problem...sold them both for $5 at a garage sale...(though I have been thinking of trying 2002 just for the GT mod..)(if I can get it cheap enough..).. Athlon amd...512 ram...gforce 64 mg...and win2k **** Eat well, stay fit, die anyway......

I read a post on one of the F1 2k2 forums that stated that WHERE the slider is determines what is the problem, if you are in the first half of the track progress slider loading and it crashes, then you probably have a track problem if it crashes after 50% it's an individual car or sound file. So lets go back to basics. Have you tried using a no cd file? Have you tried loading different tracks and different cars? Have you added anything recently?(like the SSM Mod? Sound files? Carshapes?) Hi T and Dave, I have run both 2000 and 2001 with available mods and they ran fine. Dave , at first it would crash when it got to the end of the loader bar, but now the game wont even start! Click the icon and i get the first screen before the game actually starts and thats it.Uninstalled again with ths same results. Tried the SSM mod , but no dice either . Have treid different tracks and cars, but nothing seems to work. Nocd doesnt work either. Well that truly sucks... lets dig some more. XP or 9x? What drivers are you using for your vid card? I have used the 30.28's and the 40.72's without problems on a gf3 ti 200. Don't even mess with the mods til you get the F1 properly sorted. Replays off? OH OH! duh....have you chosen a RANDOM starting posistion? If you have the 2001 season starting spot with a mod, that will ctd. Try creating a NEW driver.plr file and pick a random starting spot. And make sure your config.ini file is not messed up. Run 3dconfig and choose NO FSAA and a screen rez at or below that of your desktop. Hi Dave, Running Win Me with the 30.82 drivers from Nvidia. Didnt install the SSM mod until i tried everything else and thought ,what the heck, ill try this just incase, but no go there either. Did a clean intsall and put in the no cd patch and the game will not start either, so i cant get into the game to try any of you suggested changes unfortunetly.I did try the the 3d set changes you said still no go.I had just done an image recovery on Saturday before intsalling the game so im starting with a clean slate so to say. Bill, 1st you'll have to run 3d set-up again. This time make sure you don't have FFSA on (in the advanced button). Do the same to the Nvidia card (Not sure how it's done have an ATI) no Anti Aliasing. Once the game up and running again (Hopefully) before going to the track, go into graphic options and set everything to medium. Turn off mirrors & Shade. If the game starts, you'll have to play with the settings (putting higher values) one by one untill the Frame rate & Display are satisfactory. Remember that you have to copy config.ini values to any mod you have manually. Simmods is another place where you can get help. Hi all , I posted this last week some time and it seems to have been removed form the group. I have tried everything to get this game to run , but nothing works. Latest drivers for sound and video , fresh install, latest direct x ,and it still boots to desktop when the loader bar at the top of the screen gets almost all tha way across just before you get in the car at the track. i emailed EA and they sent a couple of emails with some suggestions to try and still nothing. Then the 3rd email they sent was the same as the first . Damn auto responders. I dont really care about the F1 part of it but i really wanted to try out the Lemans mod, and the other stuff thats out there . Thanks , BillK.
