I'M SO HAPPY !!!

Hi.
Today my wife told me my birthdaypresent for my 40th birthday (Yes I'm an
old guy, I know). It is a 4 days trip to Sweden where I will be driving a
REAL Formula One car. It is an Arrows from 1997, so it is not totally new,
but I'm sure it is a LOT faster than everything I have been driven so far.
The reason for the 4 days is, that we will first use our own cars to learn
the Racetrack (Scandinavian Raceway), and after this (and some theory) we
will start to learn to drive a "Singleseeter", a Formula Opel/Lotus, and at
last it is a Formula One car. I look forward to see which of the F1 sims
that come clostest to the real wiev when sitting in the***pit, as I think
there are some difference in frontwheel size, position aso, between F1 2000,
GP3 and CS2000. I have never seen Ubi-softs new Formula 1 sim, so I don't
know how this look. And the sound inside the car! Which is clostest to the
real thing?
I know you know will laugh at me and say, "It is just an old F1", Ok, but
here is some times I got from a guy that has been in this car earlier. 0 to
100 Miles pr hour 4,2 second, braketime from 190 mph to 50 mph 2.9 second
(about 60 meters) Try to do this in your own cars. I know mine can't do it,
not even close. Yes, I know new Formula 1 cars is faster than this, but I
think this is fast enough for me, as I have NEVER driven in this kind of
powercar before.

This will take place i week 33, (around midAugust), and this is the first
time in my life, that I'm looking forward for the summer to end!

I know this post is Off Topic ... maybe.
Because I want to ask you F1 hard-simmers, is there anything beside the real
wiev and the sound you want me to look after when I'm up there?
And second. Do any of you know a racing game where the Scandinavian Raceway
are included, so I can learn the track a little before I'm going racing?
I know Scandinavian Raceway is the only FullSize F1 track in Sweden, but can
anyone of you remember when the last F1 was driven there?

I don't know the answer to this question, but I can take a guess at it.
There is a game called Swedish Touring Car Championship, and I would
think that if any sim is going to include a track in Sweden it would
be that one.  But check first before you buy it, because I don't really
know anything about the game other than that it exists, so I don't know
for sure if the track you want is in it.

Oh, and congrats on your trip, sounds like fun!  :)

Hi again.
Thanks for all the good wishes. You can be sure I'll take some photos
upthere, and when I return home, I will post some of them in a binary NG, I
just don't know which NG yet, as I only know the Danish. But I'll learn this
too before August (damm, it a long time waiting!!)

If you want, I can write a short post when I get home about how it is to
drive, how it looks from the seat and so on?

Hi Marc.
Thank you for the advice. I found Swedish Touring Car Championship 2 at a
store this evening (it is now 9:08 PM here), and when it opens tomorrow,
I'll go there and buy it if it has this track in it. But I'm sure it has.

wow, enjoy it Sven! Happy Birthday,

I bet the first things you'll notice from what I know of F1 cars is the
significantly small pedal travel and wheel spin up to at least third gear...
hehe

I think most sims (even GPL) are a little forgiving from a stand still but
once your going it should be a riot! I'm hoping to visit the racing school
in Mondello Park once I've got a drivers licence. (Strange, I do have a
National Race car licence to driver single seaters, karts and navigate
rallies but I can't drive a road car, MAD!)

Enjoy!!!

Hi Sven and congratulations....if u ever be tired of that wife...just
send me an email...:)

To be serious....go get the full version of STCC2
Anderstorp (Scandinavian Raceway _is_ included on it!
And if u want to, u can get a cheatcode on the net (I have it somewhere)
That will give u the option to race a F1 car on all the swedish tracks!

Dont know where to get STCC2 where u live...I got mine in two days from
www.webhallen.com (I live in Denmark)
All the best and I look forward to see some reports....(and I'm 50 years
old next year..:)

Wish it were me. I know it's not prudent to ask how much
such a birthday present will cost... but. HOW MUCH!?!?!

Cheers,
