Whoopee, I've just gone sub-1:29.00 in my Eagle (1:28.93) for the first
time. I'm so happy I just have to share this. Alright, I know the fast
guys are doing 1:27s but it is a small personal landmark! :-)
Cheers,

Hey - a lot of us are happy to complete a lap...
Just practice? Or did you find "the setup"?
Well done anyhow

Done in race practice using Alison Hine's Eagle setup with 2 clutches rather
than 3.

Well done Paul, I presume this was at Monza?  I had a timed 1m26.... saved the
replay, checked it later.... could not believe I had shaved 3/4 secs of my
normal lap times!  I timed the replay with a stop watch.... yup, you guessed....
it came out as a 1m.29+  I must of had a mega time warp :(   Oh well!   I am
sure your time is correct, again... well done.Dave Hawnt (UK)

Could you just email your setup.

I'm new in GPL, just racing for 2 weeks, after 3 years of GP2.

I'm now in the 1.32.XX at Monza with my own made setup. (No-Help)

I only find the gear setting a bit difficult, cause you can't read the RPM
exactly in the cocpit. (no-redline or max torque)

Thanks in Advance

Wait a second, I just checked Alison's site and didn't see any setups
for the Eagle.  Did I miss something?  I thought Alison said she was
going to do Brabham setups first.  If Alison has released Eagle setups, my
prayers have been answered.  Regardless, conrats on the lap.

Maybe he was talking about Monaco, I remember downloading a zip file a
while ago of Monaco only setups that had in it an Alison Eagle setup for
Monaco.

Check http://www.nh.ultranet.com/~alison/gpl/files/setups_monaco.zip

I think that was where I got it, but be careful since most of those were
setups developed using the beta GPL and so have shock bumpers of .5" which
became illegal in the release version which had a minimum of 1.0" so if
you run without modifying them up to 1.0" you might get flak by some people
if they see your setup is relying on the beta settings.

There are many good Eagle drivers out there, and many of us are sharing
setup ideas and even setups with other Eagle drivers (though probably not
as good as the great setups Alison seems to have a great ablility to come
up with, hopefully one day we will also have an Alison Eagle setup pack).
If you see an Eagle driver that impresses you, try asking if they will
share setups or ideas with you, odds are that they will.
Forza Eagle!

Seeyas on the track.

an Eagle only driver since GPL release and plan to stay that way
until end of March (finish of IGPLC season).

No, it was Monza. I got Eagle setups for all the tracks from Alison's Eagle Woman
site just before Christmas but it looks like she has taken them off now. Don't
know why - they seem pretty good to me - but maybe she is not happy with them and
wants to revamp them later. I'm happy to mail them to you.
Cheers,
Paul

I believe she removed them because most of them were developed with the
beta version of GPL which allowed bump ***s at .5 (and are thus
"invalid" in the final release of GPL).

Ten thousand curses :-( I checked and sure enough the bump ***s are set at 0.5. Does
that mean my time is a cheat? :-( Oh well, it's back to the drawing board.
Cheers,
Paul

Wow, maybe Alison is working on an Eagle super setup pack, that would
indeed be nice :-)

Maybe we can setup some website or something for Eagle setups, seems
like there are plenty of Ferrari and Lotus setups around but the
Eagle is much more of a rarity in finding setups.

Seeyas on the track.

Hi John,
Now that is an idea that interests me. I have stacks of unused web space. Mail me and
maybe we can work something out,
Cheers,
Paul

I now discover that the Eagle setups were for the benefit of the beta team only and
should never have come into my hands. Alison has requested that I do not release them
to anyone else, as she considers their use to be cheating, a sentiment that I agree
with. I shall no longer be using them, sadly this means that all my Monza Eagle times
are invalid and it's back to square one. But I am not down-hearted - oh no! - and I
expect to be back into the 1:28s again very shortly!
Some advice from Alison for a quick fix Eagle setup is to take her Coventry setup and
copy the extension from .co1 to .ea1 and then change the gear ratios since the Eagle
has a slightly higher redline, but this may not be necessary since it also has more
power.
Cheers,
Paul

If you're not hitting the bump ***s, there's no difference to having
them at the now-minimum 1".

That is, if you're not hitting them when set at 1" :)
