And I like mine...a lot, although if I was looking today, Altec has a great
5 speaker surround system within Steve's budget.

You obviously don't have Cambridge Soundworks Speakers or you wouldn't have
given the bad advice of not getting them.
I have a SB Live Value! and FPS 2000 Digital Cambridge Soundworks Speakers
and the sound is AMAZING !!!!! I would HIGHLY recommend these speakers for
that soundcard.

Assuming you are not going over $100, the FPS 2000s are a great 4 speaker
set but cost about $145 with shipping through buy.com.
So, if you want 2 speakers (or 3 including sub woofer) the Cambridge
MicroWorks are only about $40 and sound great. Probably the best dollar
value around. The MS DSS 80s for around $60 including shipping sound very
good too, but have an auto shut-off after 7? seconds so you miss the first
part of any sound coming in which drives me crazy. (can't hear the 'you've
got mail' message.) If you want 4 speakers plus sub woofer, there's the FPS
1000s MicroWorks) for around $80. There are other speakers that sound very
good, but not many that sound better than the CL Cambridge Soundworks
speakers, which BTW, were designed by Henry Kloss, who has been designing
some of the best sounding speakers for over 30 years. I guess the point is,
you can't go wrong with these speakers and you will be happy with them. Oh,
plus they have a nifty little tethered volume control that you can mount on
your monitor or hold in your hand.

I have no idea how good they sound - I don't have all the pieces
to make a working PC yet :)

Hehe, I like it! Had to read that one twice before it sunk in.
